I don't do gold.

It would have to be something to really peak my interest to get me to make an investiment like that and the first ladies just isn't the thing to do it.

No, first of all they are gold--by FAR the ugliest metal ever used for a coin. However, even if they were minted in an attractive metal it is simply a money making scheme for the mint. I won't be spending a dime on them. Of course, I think the entire package--presidents, first ladies, new reverses for cents, even more Sacies which won't circulate any better than the ones already laying around taking up space, etc--is simply a dumb idea.

Are aliens allowed to vote here? If not, substract 1 from the number of votes for "Nah, it's a dumb idea." :ninja:

Spending some money on silver bullion I can understand, maybe even the 1/10 oz gold. But the 1/2 ouncers are going to be pretty pricey. For $300 I can get some nice coins with infinitely more interesting history than the picture of Franklin Pierce's wife.

NOOOOOOOOO. Leave the platinum and gold eagles alone! Those are REALLY pretty! Any more nonsense coins and you will get an outrage from us (maybe?)

;)

(speaking of which, I shouldn't be talking such nonsense either, I am looking at a field where there are too many varities of precious metal coins, forget gold itself :ninja: )

I don't think it will make it to the middle of the series. I would be surprised if it made it for 2 complete years. I know they want it to me a big money maker, but I don't think there are enough general public or collectors to warrant keeping the program going.
