ovrundr
Well, I've decided it's time to look through some of those pennies I've been hoarding all these years. I look through about 500 yesterday and today and found 4 '98 wide AMs. My guess is about 20,000 of em all memorials saved by me over the past 25 years. I hate spending those little buggers. I know to look for: 98-00 wide AM 92D close AM 95 double die obv 83 double die rev 72 double die obv 70S small date Anything else I should be looking for? Here's a look if I can get this right:

Peter
I'm putting together a run of US cents and a couple I've found are 1999 with the last tail of the second nine faded (at first glance it looked like 1990) 1953 S I've got 1 with a much lower S. All the examples are in UNC. Are these known varieties?
AuldFartte
Looks like a major project I wouldn't even do that with wheaties ... I had 110,000 of 'em in bags of 5,000 each and I took 'em all to the local coin shop and sold 'em to the dealer. I think (if I can ever find the darned things in my garage) I may have another eight bags or so ... but there's no way I'm looking through those puppies

Even if you dont collect errors, A little set of 4 or 5 nice Off centers goes for $30-$40 on Ebay. Off centers w/ date > Off centers w/o date. -Bobby
jkmiii
Been there and done that! I had a bunch of pennies left over from a 5 gallon jar that sat in our family store for years. People would drop their extra pennies in there. I spent two winter going through there and found only a few good coins My advice: 1. Get a 3-5x lens (I think my eyes got worse looking at all those pennies) 2. Do this in the winter night - summer is for being outside!! 3. When you are done with a few pounds - take them to the bank; don't do it all at once! They get a little upset when you walk in with $200 in copper. 4. Get the "Cherry Pickers Guide" However, good luck looking!! You before looking: You after a few days: You after a few weeks: - notice the larger eye from squinting so much You after a month of looking: You after you find that great error coin!:
