  2. I was at wally world the other day and when I stepped up to the cashier she was complaining to her super about 5 Ikes that some one gave her. I offer to give her $5 for them and she was glad to accept my offer. I took the coins and put the in my pocket. When I got home I looked and one of the coins was a silver Ike proof. Nice return on my $5. Rick

  6. Hi all, I'm not much on bank notes so thought I'd ask you guys. My Father-in-law left my daughter a 1914 $20 South Carolina note. We stoped by a local coin shop and he said it was extra fine and was worth about $350. The owner was not there so don't know how well I can trust this person since mostly he wanted to buy it. Can you give me a ball park figure of about what it's worth I can add pictures later if needed. Thanks Rick
  7. Thanks. I'll start checking some of the local dealers to see ehat I can find. Rick

  11. 1> I hope to finish my Morgan set. Could be a tough one though. 2> Finish my Lincolns 3> and maybe start a US type set. It's going to be hard to beat 2005.
  12. 2005 was my first year collecting coins. So I guess starting with US coins was the best way to start, since I at least know what most of them look like. But I did branch out a bit. So, My first year of coin collecting: Complete set of US dollars from 1897-Present Ikes, SBA and Sacagawea complete with proofs un-circulated Morgan set short 10 coins; I’ll let you guess which ones. Peace set needs a couple upgrades but it’s complete SAE complete but only a couple of proofs Lincoln set missing 14 wheats - circulated Complete set of Jeffersons - circulated Complete set of state qua
  13. I'm too scared to add it all up. Not sure what I would do if I figured out just how much I have spent . Not sure what he wife would do either.
  14. what type finish should I be looking for? Is it a mirror finish? The reason I ask is that I bought two coins sold as proofs. But now that I have them they are mat finish and look like normal circulation coins. Anyone have a link to a proof I can compare to? Thanks

  20. Question on Canadian silver proof dollars post 1967. I know that Canada stop adding silver in 1967 and 1968-1970 were nickel only. Then in 1971 they started minting the silver commemorative dollars. But my question is did/do they mint silver proof coins of the circulation strike like the US does. I see a lot of coins advertised as Example 1982 proof silver dollar. Is this just using the term silver dollar loosely or is it really a dollar coin that is a silver proof? Inquiring minds wan to know.
  21. Still needing about 16 Morgans. Anyone hoarding one I could use.
