hiho
Someone out there has to have a lovely 1695 they want to show off! Â Even an ugly 1695 will do. As long as we can read the date...
porthos
Does the date have to be in English? I have some Mughal dated coins; do they qualify?
Mark Stilson
Does the date have to be in English? I have some Mughal dated coins; do they qualify? Â Â Anything dated. We have already had some Egyptian and other coins.
tommyd
The dating won't matter, provided the poster can verify/validate/explain to us what it says in numbers!!

porthos
Sorry guys for the delay in posting the 1695 coin. I was trying to figure out a way to reduce the size of the picture using photoshop! Whew! got it finally. Â I am posting two coins here. As per the conversion calender between AH (hizri calender) and the AD (Anno Domini or roman calender), the year 1695 is shared halfway between AH 1106 and AH 1107. So I got out my mughal coins and found specimens for both. Â The first coin is - Silver Rupee Aurangzeb Alamgir KM#300.36 Badr e munir Wt 11.4 gms Islamabad Mint dated AH 1106 (AD 1695) Â The dates on both coins are given in Arabic. porthos
and the second coin is - Silver Rupee Aurangzeb Alamgir KM#300.39 Badr e munir Wt 11.4 gms Itawah Mint dated AH 1107 (AD 1695) Â PS. The image size was still working out more than 100kb hence the second post!

constanius
Sorry guys for the delay in posting the 1695 coin. I was trying to figure out a way to reduce the size of the picture using photoshop! Whew! got it finally. An easy way to reduce the size is to email the picture to yourself, selecting the quality to suit your needs. Or join Photobucket (it is free) and have really large pics. Vfox
Anything from the 17th and 18th century in mintstate is so strange in my opinion. Imagine this is basically someones pay for the week, they stuck it in their coin purse, and then what......how do these survive like this?! Jeesh, lol. frank
1693 jeton of Louis XIV, with an artist painting the king's portrait. No shortage of ego there.
