jtryka
I almost forgot, this one came yesterday, the latest addition of my trains on coins collection!
thedeadpoint
Ok. That Canada one is cool.
Art
Nice additions to your collection. The gold coin is very nice but the train is extra special.
jtryka
I agree, I think I have 3 Canadian locomotive coins, this one, one from last year, and one from 2003 I think that was a diesel locomotive with 24k gold accents. Very pretty coins!
jtryka
I bought the 2008 Canadian Locomotive coin from eBay (the Royal Hudson) that should be on its way. But yesterday I had to settle for these two arriving in the mail: This first one has some neat cracks, though not sure you can see them all in my poor photos: The next one is common but has some pretty toning, though again, not that you'd be able to see in my poor photos:

TheCoinCzar
I received a large envelope of all kinds of goodies that I've won in auction with SterlingBids.com. I can get good quality coins at reasonable costs. So I had my fun today going thorough all of my new coins (mostly U.S.)
TheCoinCzar
Came last week... I like the badger! Excellent photographs. My compliments to the photographer!

thedeadpoint
Not bad wear patterns for a busty. Thanks for sharing! Which die variety is it?
jtryka
It's an O-103, pretty common.
KoRnholio
Probably overpaid for this ($35 shipped, 2007 Krause puts it at $2!) but I couldn't resist. Shame about the smudges on the slab, the pics don't really do it justice. I could see South Africa being my next series of interest. PCGS PR67, mintage 16,000. jtryka
Got these over the last week or so:
thedeadpoint
Love it, Kornholio. How many other SA coins do you have? Jeff, I like the gentle wear on the 1818 but the 1825 has surprisingly appealing wear too.
Art
Wonderful. Those halfs are really beautiful.
KoRnholio
Love it, Kornholio. How many other SA coins do you have? Not a whole lot, maybe 5 or 6 in total. I picked up a partial set of 1965 proofs (the 1c, 2c and 10c) from a junk box a couple years ago just because they were toned. I saw some neat designs in the Krause book that have tickled my brain a bit and will probably fuel some new searches/pickups.
jtryka
Yes, busties are perhaps the best wearing coin designs ever to come out of the mint! Plus I really like the album toning on the 1818/17!
thedeadpoint
Yes, busties are perhaps the best wearing coin designs ever to come out of the mint! Plus I really like the album toning on the 1818/17! I disagree. I think the wear of the *die* is what this series is known for (which is why I don't own one - can never find one with good wear patterns, or one that the liberty doesn't look like a zombie). As for the suggestion that it's the best wearing coin design, I think I started a poll with that question a few years ago. Let me try to find it.
