thedeadpoint
jtryka, I can't remember you posting many of those. Are you starting a new series or working on an old one? Now I want one of those!

jtryka
jtryka, I can't remember you posting many of those. Are you starting a new series or working on an old one? Now I want one of those! Well, the draped bust are a short series, with the heraldic eagle they were produced only from 1801-07, with the small eagle reverse from 1794-97, these two are my 4th and 5th additions of this type, the others I had are 1803, 1805 and 1807, so only need the 01 and 02 for a date set of these. thedeadpoint
You're forgetting the 1804 date...
jtryka
You're forgetting the 1804 date... Nope, you're thinking dollars, they didn't produce any halves dated 1804!
thedeadpoint
I wasn't sure if these were halves or not. Are these the same designs as the dollars? I'd love to see an edge if you can get a pic of one
jtryka
I'd gladly post the edge, but there is no place to put it on Omnicoin and I am out of attachment space! In the meantime, enjoy this latest one I got for my Dansco album yesterday at the ANA.
ikaros
The more I see those really early American coins, the more I like them. Even worn they have a particular art and dignity to them.
Art
Big package day for me today. Long list that I'll try to get to later. Remote cable for my newest Nikon. The stamps are intaglio printed on very heavy stock. Very nice.
jtryka
Nice addition Art! I think I still have a sheet of 32-cent Polk stamps around here somewhere that had the same nice printing and classic looking design. Meanwhile, here is my latest addition picked up from the post office this morning:

tommyd
Really great stuff! And all I got was this little silver penny... England, King Cnut, Quatrefoil type, 1017-1023, Spink 1157 -- AU
Steve D'Ippolito
Nothing to sneeze at; it's centered and legible and you can use it to bail out the english channel if you have to (just like Canute's men when they didn't realize he was kidding)

jtryka
Wow! I usually save those for make-up stamps when they raise the rates! How did they fit your address on the envelope?
buzkirk
They canceled all but 1, the shakespear in 1st pic. lol !
Art
When I was a kid I collected Ghana stamps and my older brother did US. He had a special thing for plate blocks and I recall them being difficult to get and quite costly. Here we have oldie plate blocks being used for postage. I find it interesting. I guess stamp collecting like coin collecting has a greatly diminished audience.
