Ian
This image first appeared on rec.collecting.coins a few years back (courtesy of Dale Hallmark as I recall). Looks pretty genuine to me. Ian

Art
I think the crutch adds that extra touch of authenticity.

Sir Sisu
I bet one of the new companys will slab it.... Missing leg-live MS-70 /with crutch Not sure it would get that rating. Look at the fur; obvious lamination error.
banivechi
Definitely it's a fake! Look at the colour: brown = bronze. Looking in Krause you will not find any Buffalo made from copper! Quo erat demonstrandum!
gxseries
OMG, A NEW GENUINE ERROR!!! And wait, it's in color too!!! No toning can possibly do that!!! IT has broke MS-70 record!!!

Guest Stujoe
Nice error! The last time I was in South Dakota, I found a rare, two headed buffalo. It looks like it was probably struck off center too.

cladking
The color really does assure a bodybag. Actually they had me going until I remembered all the genuine coins had the dots under the belly but also had a D mintmark under the buffalo. Something about this one might not be kosher. cladking
On the plus side it looks like it's a weak strike because of the indistinct lettering and the virtual lack of horn detail; it would be low-grade anyway.
Guest Stujoe
Actually they had me going until I remembered all the genuine coins had the dots under the belly I was going to mention something about that 'effect' on the real coin but the first thing that came to my mind was not appropriate.
