  1. I'm guessing that this is halfpenny sized. The design and style are both rather unusual.
  2. Out of curiosity, was the seller in the US? It is my understanding that it's not legal in the US for reproductions to be sold unless they are clearly marked as such.
  3. Not familiar with this one but I have a feeling I've seen it before.
  4. No real value, perhaps a few dollars as a novelty. In the 1960s and 1970s it was very common to encase regular circulation coins (sometimes silver or gold plated) in plastic for use as novelty keychains, penholders, paperweights, and the like.
  5. Welcome! I always found that many FAO coins made for nice examples for coins depicting fruit.
  6. You can contact them directly, but contacting your MP and making an effort that route would likely help.
  7. To be honest both pieces, at first glace, seem iffy to me.
  8. Lovely pieces! For modern circulation, I find that the 1993 steel HK$1 is a bit of a challenge.
  9. Nice to see this one again!* :-) With Hsien Feng (Xiangfeng in pinyin) cash coins, it's often much easier to find a multiple cash in good shape than a 1 cash in good shape - the majority of the 1 cash are quite poor in weight and quality. *I had several duplicates of these about 10-15 years ago that I sold on the BST forums here any years ago.
  10. Unfortunately Greek is not my area, perhaps someone else may be able to help?
  11. Frankly I'm concerned that they all look the same - the vast majority of originals were lost in the 30s when China demonetized, and many more in the late 70s during the run up in silver price - almost all of the ones seen today are reproductions made in varying grades of alloy as well as the odd older fake. Two pieces that I purchased from a collector of East Asian artifacts who got them in the mid-80s, and whose collection of knives and swords was unquestionable genuine, turned out to be fakes - both turned out to be mostly lead.
  12. Gordian III would be the grandson and son thereof of the former two, if I remember correctly. Silver coins from his reign are quite common. For " Aurelius" it sounds like you might have Aurelian, who was around the 270s-280s or so (going off memory).
  13. Very nice! I've never gotten around to getting the Tai and the Nan. I should do that one of these days.
  14. For those who wish to see the scene of Capilano Lake / The Lions as shown on the left side of the reverse, the what3words location is bravery.bonnet.sober / binders.question.storms (yes, the patch of grass that's been worn out from too many people stopping there to take photos).

    Paper note it appears?
  16. Notes have now been released to circulation. I've seen prefixes CDA and CDB thus far, and the sample photos from the Bank of Canada show prefix CDF. With a run of 40,000,000, and 10,000,000 notes per prefix, that would mean that there should be one more prefix out there (or two, if there's also one for replacement notes).
  17. And now they make hell notes using designs of almost all current notes from China, Hong Kong, and some countries in the west. Makes a theme on its own.
  18. I sometimes wonder why casinos issue a 50c token instead of a $2.50 token given that the point of the 50c is to allow for a $7.50 payout if a player gets a blackjack on a $5 bet (assuming usual 1.5x payout for that).
  19. I've gotten 2017 coins, but only from mints or banks, and not from change.
