sigistenz
Â Thank you!. One more, bad picture, but you get the idea. You are right Igor, the 5kop1761MM is still missing with me I remember having seen about 3 of them over the years but none was nice. Another empty space in my trays is reserved for the above Siberian 10kop1767- - . And your 10kop1762 is much better than mine. Congratulations to your outstanding coins and thank you for sharing. True, the pictures could be nicer for the above one and the 1763 no Mintmark coin. Could you show better pictures of them? They would really deserve it. Thank you, Sigi . IgorS
Sigi, I will make better pictures. Just do not know when . I realized that I also kept a few Paul re-overstrikes 5 kopek pieces. But will show them some other time.
extant4cell
Sigi, the one above, that I show is also Paul's restrike, with newly made dies, specially for overstrike... looking like old dies, but not quite... Just mine almost doesn't have any signs of undercoin, but it's made with dies made by the same instrument as dies for your coin below... If you look closely at the eagle and at numbers "96", you can see the difference to old dies. Â Â Â IgorS. look forward to seeing your amazing coins in full colour one day! sigistenz
Hi Eugene - I'm sorry but I can't see any indication of reoverstrike. Sure the dies are somewhat different, I do not remember having seen this type of "96" of the date, it jumps into the eye. Are you sure the coin is authentic? The edging tool of the time often produced an "overedgeing" like this, as can be seen on earlier dates as well. What you show is not necessarily an overstrike edge XXXXXX over //////// . But note: this is only my personal opinion based on my more than 40 years of collecting Russian coins. My Russian is too poor to follow Russian language forums and their recent discoveries. Take care, Sigi  .
extant4cell
Hi Sigi, The copper specialist Yevdokimov, the one that studies these coins for many years, believes that these dies, with eagle and 96 like this, were specially made for Paul's re-overstrike. These dies' elements on your and on my coin are very similar or even identical, look at the necks-face-tongs design, and 96 curved more than usual (on your coin as well). Yevdokimov had a look at this coin and believes it's identical but with as little detail that he has ever seen. I'll look for other signs when I have it in hand. In his article, Yevdokimov describes this particular type of dies as a newly made, specially for reoverstrike. He has never seen this type of dies on new coin with just xxxx edge and no signs on. If this coin would prove him wrong, I'd be even more excited, but I don't believe this is the case.
alexbq2
Could also be a direct overstrike of a 5 kopecks that were re-edged to become 10 kopecks, but never did. Hard to tell without traces.
alexbq2
Recently picked up this overstrike. Not sure what to do with it, anyone interested?
extant4cell
Could also be a direct overstrike of a 5 kopecks that were re-edged to become 10 kopecks, but never did. Hard to tell without traces. Â That's true. I'll look for the leftover signs when I'll get it...
IgorS
Since we are on the topic of re-overstrikes, here is a common one. But the color what is being referred to in Russia as "yellow" - the most desirable of them all.
IgorS
One more "yellow". This one is ex Brekke.
IgorS
The next two I showed in the past in some other topics. This one has EM of the 10 kopek undercoin showing pretty clearly.
IgorS
And now here is my last large copper (this time it is almost true ) Also ex Brekke and one of my favorites. There is something about it! I did pretty well with Paul re-overstrikes. Had most of them. But I find it impossible to keep it all and keep on collecting. So we do what we can. sigistenz
   Eugene, what I mean is that the monogram is not flat as usual but convex, rounded on top. And so is the "1796". The monogram looks like cream applied by the pastry baker. That disturbed me. But now I compared to another one in Künker's upcoming auction - the same pastry appearance. Seems that you are right - once more. Thank you for widening my horizon again ! Sigi

Hi Sigi,  I tried to take a better picture today, but the coin is dark and I cannot get enough light (today is not sunny so far). In any case. I uploaded the new image to Omnicoin and it automatically updated in all the posts where it shows.
sigistenz
These are much better pictures. A pretty nice coin ! That is the only Siberian 10 kopek missing with me. Can you show the 1763 w/o mint mark, too? Thank you, Sigi .
alexbq2
Hi Sigi, Â I tried to take a better picture today, but the coin is dark and I cannot get enough light (today is not sunny so far). In any case. I uploaded the new image to Omnicoin and it automatically updated in all the posts where it shows. I think if you have any kind of a light source, and adjust your white balance for the background, the photo will turn out pretty good. extant4cell
and try a darker background for darker coins and lighter for white...
alexbq2
and try a darker background for darker coins and lighter for white... Â I find that the opposite will give a better contrast and a more realistic color representation. Dark coins on dark background will look much lighter than they really are, and silver on white will look darker.
