  1. Heck, forget the 31 or 32, for that money you could by a 29 and 30-S on the virtual bourse right now!
  2. The 27-D is arguably the rarest Saint now that more than a dozen 33s are known. In general 1929-33 are rarer gold coins (remember 1933 Indian $10 have always been legal to own, though expensive), though it is not universal. In general for $20 they are all rare, for $10, the 1932 is common, the 30-S and 33 are rare (none were minted from 1927-29), for $5 and $2.50, they only date minted in that span was 1929, and both of those are fairly common.
  3. Not all 1930s gold is rare, just look at the 1932 eagle, common as can be! Today I fould a 1939 nickel in change.
  4. Went to the supermarket today, and alas nothing in the coinstar, but they did have wine on sale...
  5. The only one I can think of is the series 1914 large size $20 FRN, which primarily has a locomotive and ship, though it does have a plane flying over in the background (I have no idea why someone would focus on a background detail while ignoring the major components of the design though). Otherwise there were none that I know of, as after this issue the $20 note depicted the White House on the back.
  6. Got a 1948 nickel playing poker with some buddies the other night, of course I lost about $30 playing cards to get it!
  7. There are a lot of combos, plus 12 fed districts for each combo, so I am nowhere near having them all!
  8. Depending on the date, a pre-1814 in F/VF would probably run about $100 or about $94 Canadian!
  9. Heck if you want one, I listed my worn old one that this replaced on eBay, you can see it in the advertising forum! I am just happy that now my main 3 notes in this type set, the $5, $10, and $20 are all in very similar grade. I only wish I had them last year at our coin club's show as that was what my exhibit was on!
  10. I picked this one up at a local show today:

  12. Very cool story! I think I've heard that before, but your version brought it to a more personal level.
  13. I got this one in the mail a few days ago, but didn't have time to post photos till now: And that's a beautiful half eagle tommy!
  14. I got my two mint sets today, and although the coins look nice, I think it will be a pain in the neck to cut them out of there!

Faster payment than I expected for an ASE! Thanks!
  16. I don't think the edge is noted as rare for either the 1830, 1831 or 1834 and I doubt there has been much research done on them. I checked the NGC pops, and they don't even mention the edge on any of the years. The only date where it matters is the 1809, because there the edge is associated with specific die marriages, where on these later ones they are mixed among the die marriages for the year (here is the case in point, two die marriages, same edge). It may be the case that the same edge collar was used between 1830, 1831 and 1834 and that it had deteriorated to the point of OR/ALF like you see on yours. I am not sure though. PS- If you sell the other one, I'd be interested!
