  1. Well, this is not really a circulation find, but as I was driving home tonight from Chicago, I stopped for gas and when I got out of the truck I happened to see something on the ground that looked like money. At first I thought it was one of those fake notes that are used for marketing, so you think you found money but all you found was the address for an oil change place or dry cleaner. So I picked it up and low and behold it was a genuine US $50 note, series 2004A!
  2. Excellent find Dustin! I get excited just to find the old style small head bills, let alone a series 1950!
  3. Dave, that's exactly what he has but I don't recall the denominations, a very helpful link. Do they have much value? Regardless, I think they are very interesting.
  4. Neat notes everyone, I especially like how the notes from Camaroun and other former French colonies have such an interesting design that is so reminiscent of the French designs. On another note, my uncle showed me once some notes (?) from asia, I think China or Japan that were not really notes, but more like receipts or customs documents for the transfer of gold. I don't have a scan, but can anyone tell me anything about them?
  5. Those are both AWESOME coins Becky! Congrats!
  6. Excellent post! Thanks for the report. Did you take the Amtrak or do they have commuter trains that go as far as you live?
  7. I got a pile of old US banknotes yesterday!
  8. Today I went to the bank to get some cash and got a series 1990 $20 note back in AU! This is a somewhat scarce transitional note, as it has the same signatures as the 1988A, but has a security thread. Looked on eBay and there was only 1 listed, and 3 that were already completed, but they were all pretty cheap, so scarcity with limited demand doesn't do much for pricing!
  9. Well, the set is going slowly but surely, this is the first hole I've filled (not an upgrade) in more than a year! And this will probably be the last hole for a while since the rest are $5K+ holes! You can click on the link in my sig line to see the set as it stands currently, but I haven't had a chance to add photos or description for this one, probably this weekend though.
  10. I got this in the mail today, it's only AU, but it fills a hole...
  11. Got these in the mail today, $12.65 face:
  12. Stopped at the bank this afternoon to make a deposit and get some cash and saw the glint of silver in the teller's coin tray, bought all 7 for $3.50 and the other teller even remarked that it sounded like a silver one in there! Not one, but 7 40% Kennedy halves!
  13. Well, today the mailman brought me the completion of my ASE roll set:
  14. Well, I hope you have a great day, except I'll be cheering the Cubbies!
  15. You'll quickly recover when you hit the "real world" but always cherish the memories, in a few years you'll look at all your experiences, good and bad very fondly!
  16. neat 8-reales, are those chop marks or graffiti?
  17. Well, it is a better coin than my old AU one, but I like the AU one too, so I am keeping them both! Better luck next time!
  18. "Give it time Kevin, give it time..." I am sure you'll eventually get one, but given your much more diverse interests than me, it might take you a bit longer! By the way, I didn't get my first one until I was 29!
  19. The Mailman was good to me last week! First a nice 1823 bustie that I bought on eBay and was able to use a $10 off coupon: Next was a 1913-D Saint that was an upgrade and I was able to use a $100 off eBay coupon on this one: I am all out of eBay coupons now, so my buying may take a breather for a while!
  20. At my local coin club meeting tonight I bought a half roll of unc 1966 Balboas for melt, oh happy day!
  21. Nice finds everyone! I went to the bank today and told them I'd be back next week to move the safe deposit boxes and there was sadness all around. Now I need to make friends at the new bank!
  22. Very nice Bustchaser, I especially like the 1808!
  23. Today I was at the Meijer buying a few groceries, and at the self scan my total was $24.53 so I put in two tens and a five and got back 47 cents, once I looked at my change I knew something was odd and sure enough the machine gave me a 1964 dime! My first silver in quite some time!
