  1. Great finds guys! I have 53 crisp unc notes from those series, I should really check to see if any of them are web notes!
  2. Here are a couple things that arrived over the last couple weeks. First is an unc. roll of 1955-S dimes I bought from Dadstuff: This is a hammered English penny from the late 13th to early 14th century that I bought from someone on the NGC boards. Still not sure why I bought it, but it's pretty neat!
  3. I applaud you going for an unc, but keep in mind a nice AU doesn't necessarily have to have major folds, mine had a couple minor corner folds but otherwise looks brand new.
  4. Yeah, I've had the same frustration with some bust halves lately, but at least most of the time I was WAYYY outbid, so I didn't feel so bad. My green eagle now resides in a PMG 55EPQ holder, bought it at a local show for around $300 as I recall.
  5. you know when i get onto something it's hard for me to stop!
  6. On a normal CBH, the edge is lettered with "Fifty Cents or Half a Dollar" on the 1830 and 1831 experimental edges, there was reeding or slight grooving between the words on the lettered edge. You can see the grooves or rudimentary reeding in the photo.
  7. What better way to celebrate our independence that with a coin from the 55th year of our independence! I bought this one off eBay and it arrived a couple of days ago. I was having lunch with a good friend when it arrived and he is not a coin collector, but he humors me. He looked at it and his first words were "boy she has big boobies..." I bought this one since it looked like it had descent color and it does, with a good bit of luster remaining in the devices. When I examined it closely, I discovered another pleasant surprise as this is one of the coins that was made with experimental edge dies (1830-31) which you can see the progression as the mint was experimenting in advance of the reeded edge coins of 1836 (edge photos are so hard!!!). Happy Independence Day!!!
  8. The mailman brought me this for my type set yesterday:
  9. I got this one in the mail today from eBay:
  10. Here are some photos, I must admit, Hank Paulson's signature looks wierd. I also bought a coffee mug with a picture of the $100,000 gold cert on it.
  11. $11 is definitely a good price for that note!
  12. Well, yesterday I had some time between meetings and I took a little walk down 14th street to C Street and took a tour of the BEP! It was pretty cool, and nice to see the stacks of $1 million in uncut series 2004 A $10 star notes! Needless to say, I did stop at the gift shop and couldn't resist a sheet of 4 new series 2006 $1 notes, a sheet of 4 series 2003 A $2 notes and a sheet of 4 series 2004 $20 star notes! I will try to post photos later on.
  13. I hope you have a small gas tank from the looks of that FRN! Nice reales, I have a 2-reales but it is not the cap and rays design, but the piller design dated 1776, not bad for a dollar, but that was a long time ago!

    Art

Always a pleasure to deal with Art! Thanks!
  15. We'll see, I am not sure about the stock market, the PPT has a lot of ammo to prevent a total crash, but what do I care, I have real money to fall back on!
  16. Actually, the greenback was at its lowest in 1980 when gold hit $850, but I am confident that we will see lower levels!
  17. If it makes you feel better, US Greenbacks didn't fare all that much better vs. the yellow metal...
  18. I received these the other day, a complete set of JIM notes from 1-cent to $1,000:
  19. Nice buy! I think the modern commem halves are perhaps the most overlooked of any commem series!
  20. Today I was at the bank getting into my safe deposit box and there is a coin counting machine in the same room with the boxes in the vault, and sitting by the book where I sign in to the box, there was a coin. At first I thought it was a dime, but I looked closer and it was a 1943 cent! I said to the vault teller, hey, you got a steel cent! She said, yes, do you want it? I said sure and asked if she wanted a penny for it and she said no, since the counting machine rejected it there was nothing for them to do with it so she let me have it! I've never gotten a steel cent in circulation, but this one didn't even cost me a penny!
  21. I have to agree on the 2 F coin, though I still like the sower design better than anything that's circulated in this country over the last 60 years! I also got a 1992 1F coin that was a commemorative that I thought had a very nice design too. And now from what I've seen, the French euro designs are but an empty shell of what they used to have!
  22. Yes, that is a nice coin, my favorite in the set since it's bigger than a silver dollar! I think 1974 was the first year that it was a 50 F coin, as prior to that it was a 10 F coin, and prior to that it was a 5 F coin! When I was in Paris in 1995, the largest coin they had was the 10 F coin, which was a bimetallic. The 5 F, 1 F, 1/2 F, 20c, 10c and 5c coins were all the same as the ones in this set. Of course they also had 2 F coins which were not in this set.
  23. I got this in the mail yesterday, my first French specimen set bought from a board member at NGC:
  24. Well, you have a ready buyer if you ever decide to sell!
