LostDutchman
I picked this coin up today for a good friend and customer of mine Rupert Boneham of survivor fame. He is an avid coin collector...and we have been putting a set of morgan dollars together for him. Let me know what you think of his new coin
Art
A great purchase. I'm not much into Morgans so I don't really know the fine points of grading them. I'd say VF30 because of the rarity. Otherwise it would probably go F15.
Mark Stilson
I'd put it at a 10/

If it has gone through a few rounds of the crackout game then it is probably higher on the slab.
thedeadpoint
Between 12 and VF 20. I don't fully understand why some people ask dealers to fill out a series for them. I understand having a dealer look for certain coins but where is the fun of having someone else do your series collecting for you? Awesome that he is a coin collector though! maybe his collecting patience helped him through the seasons of survivor he was in.

I am actitually meeting him in orlando at the fun show and we are going to go shopping together. I am able to get "wholesale" prices from some other dealers that I know so just like any other customer it helps fill a want list.... but this is going to be fun cause he is going to be there shopping with me.... I just hope he likes this coin

The paparazzi is going to be all over this. I can't wait to tell them. Do you know how much a good pic of you is going these days! But yes, i totally understand now why he'd enlist your help. Burks
VG10. That's cool to have a client that actually seems to enjoy collecting rather than just for profit.
LostDutchman
this coin is in an older ANACS VG8 holder... I'm going to walk it over to NGC this afternoon and see what they have to say about it.... it sure looks like a fine to me.
BiggAndyy
Wow, that actually IS a candidate for the crackout game. That ain't no 8.
Burks
I'm surprise ANACS graded it that low. Most of the rarer Morgans I've seen have been slightly overgraded. Must have been when ANACS had their crap together.
sbvenman
Rupert was one of my favorites on Survivor.
JamesBaker
I'd certainly say F-15, possibly VF-20. It was graded an 8 ??? Looks far better than 8 regardless of the rarity.
jtryka
I would say F-12, maybe a F-15. I have no idea who this Rupert fellow is since I don't watch survivor generally, though I do recall reading that the first winner got into some sort of trouble with the IRS. Guest Stujoe
I'd say it is an VG8. Probably in an older ANACS holder. I didn't know Rupert Boneham was a coin collector. I have never really watched survivor but I am familiar with him.
collectin_coins
Hope you cracked it, F-12 even by my 1984 Official ANA Grading Standards book.
knowtracks
F-10-12 for me

Frank66
F-12 by PCGS Thats my final answer.
Fudope
A VG 8??? Grossly undergraded if you asked me. A VG 8 would not have all the details you see on the obverse, let alone the reverse. This coin is a bare minimum F 12. It's more like an F 15 to me. And thats being extremely conservative.
Cherry Picker
I collect morgans & would agree with a grade of fine.. That is a dream coin.! I would like to own one some day myself..
tmoneyeagles
This is an older post I see... But good practice, to grade coins F-15....
