  1. Thanks, Art. Good luck with the bids! There are still two scarce Roman issues at less than £1!
  2. Hammered, Roman and milled coins just listed - please have a look by clicking here.
  3. Definitely looks like a fake. The details appear too sharp and 'pen like' and the join line on the edge is a tell-tale sign of a cast replica.
  4. It doesn't seem as if a photo was uploaded. If blank on one side it's most likely not a coin.
  5. Nice Henry VI Annulet Issue groat of Calais! Welcome to the forum.
  6. Hello and welcome to the forum! You can find out more about your token here. It commemorates/celebrates the South Kensington International Exhibition 1862. As for value, it's in very poor condition so I do not think we are talking any monetary value, but more historical value relating to an important event.
  7. Can you see any trace of an O in the legend that's meant to read ONE PENNY? From the photos it looks so worn that the letter is missing...
  8. A $ for a £ and other coins? Bargain!
  9. The original photographs you posted make me think of Saxby's Coins and their conveniently 'mis-described' or 'unknown' coins...
  10. As in a natural process associated with the 'normal' handling and storing of a coin as opposed to specific chemicals or processes deliberately applied to a coin to achieve such an aesthetic. I cannot recall ever having seen one such as this that was a result of processes that one would assume to have taken place in the hands of a dealer or collector, that is all. Glad to hear you're in it for the long haul and have no intention of selling it. It's well photographed, too.
  11. A very clear example, Jeff! Thanks for sharing. Is this coin technically an error? I always assumed it was just the mint's way of recycling a broken die.
  12. A quick Google search seems to suggest it's fairly worthless. A job-lot of tokens here did not even realise £1 and it had one in.
  13. You're likely to have more luck here: http://www.predecimal.com/forum
  14. I have just sold 122 lots over the past few weeks on eBay with the majority going abroad. Out of those 122 I have had problems with one transaction - a mint set going to Singapore which has been lost by the postal service. Even then, the buyer was very understanding and it was easy to resolve. Yes, it can be a stress. Yes, it can be expensive. But there are few places where you're guaranteed such footfall and, more often than not, you will get close to market value if you do your homework.
  15. Large, clear photographs are a must. Otherwise ensure that you accurately describe it and list in the correct category. I always start items at 99p for a ten day listing and find it works.
  16. In general 'circulated' condition your best bet would be something like eBay but approaching a dealer could prove fruitful, too.
  17. In that condition and, unfortunately, pierced not a great deal. This one in far better condition sold for £50 so maybe about £25-£30 but on a good day maybe much more.
