  1. Here in England it seems much more like winter than spring but, nonetheless, I endeavour to provide a sense of new life by offering some exceptional hammered coins in this latest list. Most notably the best known Richard III penny of London - superior to the lone example in the British Museum and expertly accompanied by a line-drawing by an archaeological illustrator. There is also a novel sixpence holder and a selection of late Medieval pennies along with an impressive range of Henry VI and Edward IV. Please be sure to look through the selection and let me know if I can be of any assistance. http://historiccoinage.com/newadditions.php
  2. If it is a counterfeit, which I don't think it is, it seems a pointless denomination to pick.
  3. This looks like an 1806/5 overdate, a somewhat common 'variety' on such halfpennies - I can find many examples for similar dates and Irish issues and so I'm sure there must be examples of this specific date/issue out there. Not overly rare, in my opinion. But, still, a very nice find!
  4. Not a problem, Michael! If we can help you for next time too then it's a bonus. I enjoy seeing your posts, too.
  5. I very much like it! Good to see some more good finds in Norfolk.
  6. Stephane on Bury Saint Edmunds, class Vg. Reading STE PHA NEO NSE starting at 6 O'clock on your image.
  7. Indeed, an Edward I groat of London. They are quite often found gilded as brooches and it's a shame that this one is slightly nibbled. Do you know who found it and where? It's a great find and I'd love to know more.
  8. Not bad for £3. Also, I must agree about Pat - he never fails to astound me.
  9. Thanks, Pat. That's brilliant - here's a permanent link for those interested.
  10. A couple of new additions. A nickel medallion depicting Durham Cathedral and Saint Cuthbert's cross. Also, another Tassie resin mould impression.
  11. It all looks fine, like a normal milled sixpence, except the rim. What does the edge look like?
  12. Hard to tell from your photographs but it looks like a 3g with the wide-face and egg-waisted S on the obverse.
  13. Welcome to the forum! A nice error indeed. Unfortunately no great value is attached to it as the errors such as brockages or wrong flans tend to command more of a premium. Even so, a nice find.
  14. And mine. A truly good-quality Offa portrait penny.
  15. Edward the Confessor, Sovereign/Eagles penny. Brihtmear on Winchester mint. 1065-69 A.D.
  16. The small 'trefoil'-like mark on the obverse to the left of the portrait is something which I have seen on hammered fake coins before, namely Elizabeth I pieces. But this piece has either been deliberately 'aged' and worked. Again, it's hard to tell from photographs alone.
  17. Either very, very significant wear or, more likely, a fake. Hard to tell from the photographs.
  18. It looks akin to some of the Lauer toy money which often sells for a few quid a piece.

  20. You would struggle to sell it. Still, it's nice to have.
  21. It would be worth around its melt value.
