syzygy
I should mention that the coin is slabbed and that thin scratch on the reverse is on the slab. I will post the tpg grade.

LostDutchman
it's an Unc I voted MS63 buffalo nickels are hard to grade....but a good place to start is the tail of the buffalo because this was the highest point on the reverse and one of the first spots to wear....if it is full and clean.....it's a MS coin... spike
I'm not very experienced with the MS grades, but I'd guess MS-63. Its a pretty one...
LostDutchman
they tend to be pretty tough on 1938 D's there are still a ton of uncs out there....I just sold an entire roll of uncs...
gpnyc
Its got the typical strike problems but honestly, the coin looks Gem to me. I'm going to go out on a limb and say MS-66.
Burks
I'm not too familiar with Buffalo Nickels but that sure is a MS Buffalo! Â Â I went with 63 because Dutchman did
LostDutchman
it could be higher but I grade very conservatively

Art
MS65 - nice color, great strike, no signs of wear at all. From the pic it appears to have great lustre. I'm in for MS65.
Guest Stujoe
Always a shot in the dark with an MS coin (I will faint if it is Au ) but I went with 65. Maybe a little generaous but the luster looks great and there are few marks to my eye. Strike is ok too.
jtryka
I have one graded 66, but I can't remember what it looks like! So I went with 65 just to be conservative.

dacoinman
At the time of this posting I haven't seen the grade for this coin, and I felt I should say that I graded this 66 as well. I couldn't see any REAL distracting marks in the prime areas, and one or two real minor marks in the non prime focal points. I honestly feel that this coin was weakly struck or from very worn dies. it should go a solid 65 by definition, and I felt that it looked better than most I have seen lately. So, I figured I'ld say 66. Now watch em be off by a mile. LOL
dacoinman
Well, hot diggity dog. I nailed it. Now if I could only nail the rest of the grades. LMAO
