Finn235
Purchased $5 worth of half dollars from my coworker at face a couple days ago. 1966 1967 1968-D 1969-D 1972-D 1973 X 2 1978 and 2 bicentennials According to the calculator I used, the four silver-clad halves should contain about $10 worth of silver. Art
Nice find. You're right the 40% are worth about 2.58 for silver.

Series '76 $2 bill Series '69-D $1 in decent condition and so far off-center the bottom-left corner is nearly cut off. The back is perfectly centered. Finn235
Finally got my hands on another Puerto Rico quarter and my first American Samoa today. But, the big one: One of my coworkers handed me a $10 bill and asked if I was interested in the old small portrait bills. I gave him a 10 out of my pocket for it, and then took a closer look at it. $10, series 1963 star note, serial B 00709564*. Except for a corner fold, it's in near-perfect condition. Now as for why somebody decided to blow it on a lottery ticket...
Art
Tough times make for unusual happenings. It might have been a keep the $10 or buy milk. That's a nice find.
Finn235
Normally, I would think that somebody used it to buy groceries, but according to my coworker, somebody used it to buy 10 lottery tickets. Now I have seen people made a quick $20 with the scratch-off tickets, but I would still use any other $10 bill first.

Finn235
Latest finds: 1993 British 1p on the floor at my work. Art
Very nice finds. I especially like that $10 note.
Finn235
Thanks! I'm amazed that I was able to get the note, but I'm afraid that's probably a once-in-a-lifetime find unless I'd be willing to fork over some serious money to search bills in addition to coins, which I'm not. Finn235
Nifty finds yesterday. 2001 and 1970 canadians 1940 and 1945 wheaties, both pretty beat up And, just when I had thought my luck ran out with the nickels... A very interesting 1948-S. It doesn't show in the pictures, but it still has full mint luster, rather than the dull yellowish-gray typical of circulated coins of that time. Yet, it is somehow worn to a degree that you would only expect in coins with no remaining trace of luster. Still, at 11.3 M mintage, it's a welcome addition to my collection at any time. (and just for kicks, the '51-S I found several weeks ago)
