Are those silver? They look nice - I can't remember when I have seen quarter elongates - are there halves and dollars as well?

For the small cent type set..almost 70 years old and looking young as a new born. BTW: I positively hate photographing slabbed coins!

Picked up this tasty little peso today. At $7.50, it's a nice addition to the silver collection.

Another pickup from the Baltimore show... 1926 Sesquicentennial commemorative half. These were designed by John R. Sinnock who also designed the Franklin Half (can you see the resemblence?). They are notoriously low-relief for an otherwise great design. They can get quite pricey - but not in this condition

Did you ever make it to see the 1913 Liberty head nickel? I kept trying to head in the direction of the booth number but always got side tracked - it was quite a nice show.

Yesterday, a friend and I went to the Baltimore show - what a great time! I have been to this large show many times and always enjoy it a lot. This was the first time that I was able to go on a Friday (the first day of the puplic show). This one was advertised as the "largest ever" and it was, in fact, larger than any I have been to previously. I picked up quite a few coins there, including these two Jeffs...and....I have now completed my Jefferson album (1938-2004 with proofs). WooHoo!

Every once in a while, I seem to purchase some coins for no good reason. I mean, I try to stay focussed on some collecting projects...Jefferson set...Lincoln set...Large world silver...always looking to expand or upgrade some type sets and add to a small late Roman Empire set. So, I really don't know why I bought this mini-dime type set. They were all on a card and were reasonably priced and...well, I just felt like getting them. There is really nothing that I can even use as an upgrade to my existing US dime type set shown here... oh well

Continuing with the Jefferson collection, I added these two... I am particularly pleased with the 43-S ($3.75). A while ago, I bought a board of wartime nickels... ...and did not notice until later that the 1943-S slot was filled with a 1945-S (way to check the coins you buy eh?)

like this caduceus... I'm way late on this thread, but I want to add that some have suggested that the use of the caduceus as a medical symbol was through confusion with the staff of Aesculapius- more easily associated with medicine than Hermes...interesting stuff

The cashier at a snack bar saved these two pieces for me!

That was a very enlightening group of threads for me. Perhaps not earth-shaking or even surprising to those collectors with many more years of experience, but I found it to be substantial...and I don't mean the non-air tight characteristics of a very old style of slab.

I'm continuing to plug away at the Jefferson album/ set. These two were among my recent acquisitions....15 is the magic number now

Finally received one of these in change... This is definitely not one of my favorites.

I keep plugging away at my Jefferson set and added a few this week, including these two. I hope to have the collection complete by year's end or sooner. This 1938 is a golden-toned beauty. As you might expect, I have been examining a lot of Jeffersons while working on this set. I am particularly noticing the advances in the die work and strike with the more recent issues. Look at the detail definition on this 2000-S proof - pretty impressive, in my opinion.
