  1. Austria 1967, 25 schilling, KM #2901 Anniversery of the birth of Maria Theresa .800 silver, .3344 oz
  2. ...and speaking of hunks of silver - this one really caught my eye. Very attractive and two ounces of .999. Made in 1/20 oz to 5 oz, I would not mind putting together a set of these. KM #614.
  3. More for the hunks of silver collection... Mexico 1978, 100 Pesos KM #483.2 .720 silver, .6429 oz
  4. Here is a simple Jefferson Nickel Checklist as an Excel spreadsheet. These are handy to bring with you to shops and shows. I made this one for my Whitman Classic album but you can easily customize it to your own needs. There are two files attached. Page.htm is a web view of the spread sheet The other file is the excel spreadsheet but you will have to change the extension back to .xls from .txt (the system would not accept a .xls extension). Right click on the link and save target as... blahblah.xls Anybody have any others? rename_to_xls_Jefferson_Nickel_Checklistl.txt Page.htm
  5. Spain 1871 5 Pesetas KM #666 .900 silver Madrid (six-pointed star) If you are familiar with the Spanish coins of this era, you know that the date on some coins is nominal and the actual date is in the stars. That is, these 5 pesetas can be 1871 / 73/74/75. The second digit on the second star on this one, however, defies identification. I have looked at this with a glass at every angle and I cannot make out a second digit - it's like it was never there! This is surprising as they are incuse and there is not that much wear on the coin such that it would be completely obscured. Luckily, Krause lists only a single SD-M (which is what this one is) and that is for 1871 - so this is, in fact, an 1871.
  6. Most of the coins I purchased at this last Baltimore show were those to work on filling my Jefferson and Lincoln sets. Both of my folders have S-proofs and I still have a long way to go - but I am making good progress. Here are a few examples...
  7. Been a very sparse couple of weeks as far as circulation finds for me. I did manage to uncover this 56-D wheatie - with a nice paint job. Acetone removed most of whatever it was.
  8. These three were all relatively inexpensive, "interesting coin" category buys. Mexico 1796 one real, Carolus IIII My only coin from Cuba. Still haven't done much in the way of cataloging a 'country collection', but this one will be included there. Cuba 1920, 5 centavos KM #11.1 An extremely well traveled half penney - Oh the hands this one has seen! Great Britain 1730, Half Penney, George II
  9. My most expensive purchase from the Baltimore show. I have been scouting these out for a while and finally found one at a reasonable price. I don't suppose I can legitimately include it in my US quarter dollar type set
  10. From the Baltimore show today (real nice time!) Portugal 1972, 50 Escudos KM #602 .65 silver, .376 oz
  11. Top shelf hunks of silver from Mexico - I have several myself and really enjoy them.
  12. Also got a dozen proof Jefferson's, including this one. Still have a long way to go with this album.
  13. Picked up 9 good old fashioned Lincolns, including this one, to fill holes. The mighty, yet humble, Lincoln cent, starting ground for many a US collector. Someday I will have that album filled!
  14. 1645 Austrian 3 Kreuzer - another from an area that I do not know much about - anybody have a KM#?
  15. For the large hunk of silver collection.... 1972 Brazil 20 Cruzeiros KM# 583 .900 silver 150th Anniversery of Independence. Mintage: 250K. As far as modern designs are concerned, I suppose this one is interesting (*yawn*)
  16. I have very few Germanic coins and added this Prussian Thaler with some interesting toning.
  17. Some Canadian silver. I think the reverse on the half is outstanding.
  18. 1955 Cent, British East Carribean Territories (Eastern Carribean States) - KM #2
  19. A US large cent type set would be nice although higher grade examples are quite pricey. These two seemed pretty decent for the grade.
  20. A couple of Canadian cents and a New Foundland cent as well...
  21. Did some coin shopping recently - has been a while... A couple of Australian Pennies - always liked both of these designs and want to get a nicely struck MS roo some time....
  22. I had it done at one of those mall kiosks - I just gave him a couple of .jpgs and it only took him about 20 min. Probably could have have saved a buck or two doing it elsewhere but I saw him this weekend and made a note to go check it out after work.
  23. Ok, it's not a new coin, but....I *really* like my coffee and I got tired of drinking it from the stupid freebie cup d'jour. So I had this one made today using pics from a favorite Constantine / Jupiter of mine. Geeky, but I like it
  24. I'm not certain that this is an official Mexican coin. It appears to be silver and is all of 10 mm! Quite a challenge to photograph. My Krause does not list it in the Maximilian section.
  25. I think this is an 1762 10 Soldi from Milan. Hopefully, there is enough detail for better identification.
