  1. Thanks. Why a wedge shape to the punches? A blunt screwdriver could leave a straighter impression. I can't think of an instrument that would impart a wedge/concave shape like those punched legends.
  2. Great coins as always, YeOldeCollector. Whenever I see you post a new hammered, I try to read the legends before reading the caption. I just realized why I have such a hard time reading the legends: the letters are all shaped with a curious pinch in the middle, sharp serifs, and concave bases. Why? What tools did they use to create these legends?
  3. I'm out until we go back backwards to 1799...
  4. Great site by the way! Can't wait to see where it goes!
  5. I can't believe they are only 20-25 mm wide.
  6. Love the portrait. The angle in that first HVIII photo really makes it come to life
  7. Not a lot of room on that island for those horses to run on...
  8. What is it that Wayne and Garth would say when they saw a babe? Oh, yeah "She's a babe!"
  9. Can't see it. I bet its a west point issue? 1996-W?
  10. Amazing, HalfDollar. Why have you been hiding those lovelies from us all this time?
  11. Something looks oddly clean and shiny about those coins. Wonderful nonetheless. I'm finally able to decipher some of the legends!
  12. wow man. I was hoping you'd add some personal touch to it. I don't really have a lot of time to google everything that comes across my path.
  13. Do elaborate on this oregon mint.
  14. Agree! I forget about it too until I see it occasionally mentioned in the Red Book! THanks for sharing, Art/Cole!
  15. I was wondering the same thing too. Good thing you asked the Q. I forgot to.
  16. I was tempted to buy single notes of the Richmond FRB. Saw them on sale and thought that was a neat idea. So I can sympathize with your desire to purchase the sheets.
