  1. Great pics and even better coins! You and Tom postd some lovely IHC's lately. Now I kinda want to get an orange UNC of my own!
  2. No actually. Seems like most of the winning submissions in our "Popular Coin Idol" contests are toned coins. I think toning is a polarizing enough topic that it would merit two divisions in PCI contests. Heavily toned coins only in one division and untoned/white coins in another. Kinda like Men's basketball leagues vs. Women's b-ball leagues! (PLEASE Someone build on that analogy!)
  3. Peace dollar? Silver certificate? Barber dimes? patterns? V nicks? TELL ME!
  4. haha. what a horrible story! I've saved my own father from buyer's remorse a few times: "Dad, the stuff they sell on that channel is WAY overpriced. Hopefully you didn't already purchase the complete set of mint sets."
  5. Cool coin, Mark. What do the legends say?
  6. Bill, that's a very interesting portrait on that token. Love it!
  7. Great portrait. Who is the king? I think its in excellent condition considering its apparent rarity. I mean, how rare is it? It's well centered, well struck, but impressively worn. Why is it considered rare?
  8. How did they make the incuse lettering? Great token and even more interesting story
  9. 1912-S - one of the few keys of that series. The S is hiding at the bottom left (8 o clock position) on the reverse.
  10. I imagine there are bigger problems to teaching French in SoCal - the dominance of Spanish (English in some places) and the power figures (celebs) rejection of anything French (unless they can wear it). Sorry, I'm bitter. I took French for 9 years and I wish I could use it (and English) more.
  11. Haha. Just as Rodney about his relationships!
  12. I like how the cross shows through. With his beady eyes, it's kind of scary looking.
  13. Looks like very high relief! And I could tell right away she was a small medal. Who is/are Holy Freres? A popular engraver at the time?
  14. All swell coins. I particularly like the 1818 and the wear on the obverse of the 1809 is amusing.
  15. Great note but I have to ask, how crispy is it?
  16. Astounding. Well centered, well struck, little wear, magnificent designs (and I thought all hammereds looked alike)
  17. Boy, were they ever proud of their 300th anniversary. I like the rectangle pin a lot, bill.
