  1. Uh oh. When Clive gets started, this will go fast!
  2. See... A diameter of an inch is still small in my opinion. I'm not sure I can handle the minuteness of hammered coins... On another note, you've shown us that some portraits are full, some 3/4 bust, some only of the head. Some face left, right, or head on. Any symbolism to all of that?
  3. At first, the fella on the obverse of the 500 franc looked like a dead body. Upon second glance, I realized I was wrong. Upon further glances, I still think he looks more like a dead body than a person...
  4. I believe it does, Drusus. It levels the playing field and helps Art out. He posted it in the rules in several places. Sorry.
  5. I actually do like that more, especially the spookier snakes on the obverse. Sadly, if there is no female reproductive system to look at.
  6. Wow. Great job! That looks like it took a lot of work and planning. A few comments: - I see you have represented the female reproductive system on the obverse. - I'd personally like to see more contrast between the design features and the fields, especially on the reverse. Preferably lighten the inner field on the reverse. - Add a 3rd color or lighter shade. It's a very dark design. Perhaps make the "ohm" symbol dark and the background light.
  7. You may want to specify a format for title, description, etc. For example: U.S.A - one cent - 1909 Lincoln VDB
  8. man, why would they make coins with surgical scenes on them? and that's a weird way of doing surgery...
  9. How often do you find a double struck coin that is well centered like this? They didn't use collars, if I understand correctly. Therefore, after the first strike, the coin may have bounced around, the minter would replace it manually, then strike it again.
  10. I always thought the dark carbon spots on the reverse of this were in a funny position. it's like an au natural eagle:
  11. How rare is it? Are you keeping this for your personal collection?
  12. Great point. I guess since only about 25% of coin collectors also collect notes, there hasn't been a big demand for an error note forum/series of threads. Thanks for the suggestion! I'd offer to help start it but I don't have the expertise or time!
  13. I love large cents in that condition. I let myself flip them with my finger to see them spin in the air with the quintessential "ting" that every good coin possesses.
  14. Congrats, Art! You gotta scan the signature for us! He's like the Bono of the coin collecting world!

  16. GORGEOUS, Kornholio. I may have to start looking at the Canadian section of a dealer's inventory for beauties like that. A war time coin too!
  17. I wish everyone had the skill (and determination) you have for photographing coins. The different angles are a refreshing look that give the coin depth.
