A mixed bag today. Picked up a couple mint sets 1979 and 1986. Also the Franklin half I posted in the guess the grade section. A few bargain bin specials.

This was a bargain bin buy. (Silver price + a little) I had the choice of several. Most in B.U. range but I decided to pick out one with a little wear. Under the auspices of Austria restrikes are made and will use an original date.

One missing Morgan year/mint from my set 1892 O. Lower grade but a hole filler.

Decided to go back thru the bargain (Bulk silver) bin.

Working on my morgan year/mint set. I did not have the 1900 s. They are lower grade but I needed them and they are vams.

Thanks, its getting harder and harder to find the other morgans. Several are either out of my price range or just no luck finding yet. I may start going back and start trying to upgrade some. Or get vam versions.

I have a few friends who are dealers and specialize in dollars - Morgans & Peace account for like 80% of their business. They've both told me lately that nice dollars are getting harder and harder to find. The search process is much longer than even a year ago.

Well, went out to a new coin dealer I had not been to before. And found a few reasonably priced year/mint marks I did not have. I'll have to go back next week or so to try to pick up a couple more ones I don't have. :ninja:

Picked up a few more Morgans today. I decided to go with trying to pick up some vams. The first one was already identified at the coin dealer as a 1878 7/8 tail feather they just did not have the full VAM on it. Its a VAM 39 7/8 Tail feather 7/5 variety in about xf condition.

The next one was in a "bulk" uncirculated bin. It was not Id'ed.

1896-P VAM-19 "8" in Denticles I did not have any VAMs for 1896 so this one worked out well.

This coin is a Top 100 Morgan VAM.

19 III219 · C3a (8 in Denticles) (190) I-3 R-5

Obverse III219– Top of 8 appears in two denticle spaces just below 8 as two raised and curved bars. Date slightly slanted with 1 closest to rim.

Close up of 8 in denticles (Only took about 70 shots to get this one picture. :ninja: )

The last one I thought might be a vam but I don't think so. At the dealer I thought I spotted a couple markers what might indicate a vam. But at home under closer exam I don't think so. I'll be double checking later. Also in the "bulk" uncirculated bin.

1881 S It does have a nice cartwheel when you move it around though.

Added these two to the Morgan VAM thread in the Museum.
