NumisMattic2200
The mintage of these was only 570,000 according to my book, yet it gives a value of $2.00 for UNC grades! Extraordinary! What's going on?! Did these even circulate?
Brett
Well it would depend on whether it is a KM#2.2 or KM#19 KM#2.2 there were 3,972,000 made But since the one you posted is a KM#19, I have no idea why it is so inexpensive
NumisMattic2200
Hmm..what a mystery. I was only looking in my crummy 'fake Krause' (it's an alternate publication of Krause not the real one) and not my CD-version real Krause so I didn't notice the difference as it isn't listed there. gxseries
Those were struck in the last year of Tsar and most Fins would have either kept it somewhere and therefore didn't really circulate. Never saw any lower than XF and that might suggest something.
ccg
Those were struck in the last year of Tsar and most Fins would have either kept it somewhere and therefore didn't really circulate. Never saw any lower than XF and that might suggest something. One time I asked a Finnish collector for one in a trade and he remarked that his local dealer had a mint bag of them! I agree that most pieces were likely hoarded and never saw circulation.
sturzny
I've handled many of these and don't think I have ever seen one in less than uncirculated condition. As with most things Russian, the KM listed values have not kept up with the market. The 50 p will fetch $5 or more in choice BU, the 25 p maybe a little less. david24597
Must not be much demand for these types is why the values are so low. May been some nice "sleepers" there if demand for them ever goes up....
