This is a somewhat scarce transitional note, as it has the same signatures as the 1988A, but has a security thread. Looked on eBay and there was only 1 listed, and 3 that were already completed, but they were all pretty cheap, so scarcity with limited demand doesn't do much for pricing! It was like no big deal, then BAM huge on the net. The characters are cute anyway. I draw lots of cartoons, mainly animals, ever since I was a kid, so I can relate to that design style. The banknotes that are laminated are worth very little compared to an un-laminated unc. It ruins the aesthetic of the paper...because it is no longer just paper. It makes a nice display item and certainly keeps it safe from damage but it really does ruin the value of the note. It is considered damage by most. My first aquisition in more than a month is this Belgium 100 Francs / 20 Belgas note. I have a copy of this in a larger version without the red coloring on the sides.
