  1. yea its the 1988 pound coin, pretty hard to come across but thats the only year of the design only 7,118,825 minted, but they just NEVER appear its also a very interesting coin, as this one MIGHT be 8 over 7
  2. been years since i seen one of these
  3. portrait looks very poor, comparted to the legend and crown.
  4. but 1860-1967 pennies in UK are the same except for minor changes to designs
  5. pfft coins of 1600's are far nicer then more modern pieces
  6. it depends.. there were hammered coins well into the 1600's all over europe, sweden was casting coins in the 1700's as for china.. they didnt change to milled until late 1800's here in the UK we start at a comon base for "Modern" post 1797 when they made the cartwheel stuff, its more right as near enough the age machines were used to make mass coins
  7. the one of every monarch route... i took that route, james II is hard.. i got stuck with a tin farthing in lets say.. shabby lol william and mary farthings are hard to get in a decent grade that one is alright, shame about the date being worn though. got a few new pieces myself, i'll upload them later
  8. no idea what NCLT is... scottO - 2002 10 yuan china -group 8 http://www.omnicoin.com/coins/961089.jpg a nice bit of silver of course bit of toning on the edges, and i love the way the light reflects on the obverse
  9. ScottO - 2008 £2 coin - group 7 http://www.omnicoin.com/coins/962897.jpg i do like the design on these £2, and anyway this coin is unique, no dot between DEF and ELIZABETH
  10. ScottO - 2007 1 dinar tunisia - Group 7 http://www.omnicoin.com/coins/966364.jpg something a little differant thrown into the mix
  11. silly category lol ScottO - 2006 2 euro germany - Group 7 http://www.omnicoin.com/coins/966213.jpg one of the Schleswig-Holstein 2 euro coins from 2006, 30 million mintage and seems to be a TRI-metalic
  12. yea but back then they were all like that really. never seen a bi-metalic THAT early.. earliest proper coin was the tin coinage of james II i thought (there were charles I farthing with fillings though)
  13. yay 1585 Henry III Billon double sol parisis what about undated one year issues?
  14. scottO- constantine I single standard - group 1 http://www.omnicoin.com/coins/962328.jpg acctually although its hard to see, this coin is a very nice example of a Constantine I, single-standard "GLORIA EX, although you can see it has suffered little wear and is well centred, so quite nice, minted in thassolanica
  15. scottO - Probus Antoninianus c.276 -group 1 http://www.omnicoin.com/coins/963663.jpg nice example of a coin of probus, not a common type either, minted in Sisca Croatia
  16. scottO - 1858 farthing - group 5 http://www.omnicoin.com/coins/962345.jpg one of the best designs used on british coins, this 1858 farthing is quite a rare coin, although unlisted in most publications it gets overlooked and very few have been seen since it was first identified in 1972, hence why it was missed by publications, it was messed by peck and freeman, so is only really a known variety to farthing collectors, but it is estimated to be limited to a mintage between 500-1000.
  17. ScottO - 1 sen 1885 - group 5 oa wonderful 1 sen, a great design, with little wear and lovely tones
  18. scottO- 1816 1 krauzer - group 5 http://www.omnicoin.com/coins/976909.jpg a very nice austrian krauzer minted in vienna, the design on the reverse is simple, but rather fetching, the obverse is weakly struck in the legend but a great piece with lustre in places
  19. scottO - edward I penny - group 2 http://www.omnicoin.com/coins/962357.jpg while not rare, its still very old and acctually has some very nice details on the obverse, and like most pennys from the period the cross leaves a ghosting effect on obverse.
  20. ScottO - 1148-96 hungarian denier - group 2 http://www.omnicoin.com/coins/975938.jpg i'm surprised at this coin, its one of the smallest coins you can find so an amazing surviver and amazing details for something so thin, also slightly lustrous
  21. scottO - Northen Sung Cash, group 2 http://www.omnicoin.com/coins/968048.jpg from the Northen Sung period, this is a very nice cash coin minted in the reign of Ta Kuan
  22. now it was this or the cartwheel penny... ScottO - 5 kopecks 1792 - group 4 http://www.omnicoin.com/coin_view.aspx?id=973692 russia is very popular around here, and i feel this LARGE lump of copper will give me a good chance, afterall it has great details, while not in a brilliant grade it has quite a bit of detail showing, that and it, like most russian coins are beautifully designed
  23. ScottO - 1750 duit - group 4 http://www.omnicoin.com/coin_view.aspx?id=962780 sometimes beuty is the simplicity of the design, i do like these simple design coins, and i decided to enter this as it has a fairly good planchet clip which it makes it far more desirable
  24. ScottO - 1728 sixpence - group 4 http://www.omnicoin.com/coin_view.aspx?id=964743 ahh the 18th centry silver of great britain, in my view are quite eye catching even this grade.
