Too similar to real ones? So, do you think it could be a counterfeit coin?

HI, what do you think about this coin? It's a copy of 1 penny 1971, first year after decimalization. I'm not sure if it's a token (maybe a play coin) or a fake. It isn't surely well minted, but maybe people was not so expertised with ney pennies at that time Weight: about 1.6 grams, instead of 3.56 Diameter: about 19.4 mm, instead of 20.32 Thickness: about 1.2 mm, instead of about 1.6 The two faces seem to have been separately minted and badly assembled. metal looks like brass. Portrait is quite ugly and there's non value at all! Thanks in advance Copy

2 euro coin with rotated die
luke_idk replied to knyaz.dima's topic in Error and Variety Coin Forums
HI!. Are you sure it's an error. It seems like somebody has rotated the inner circle. It's not so diffucult to do. I like the pic, as well.- 5 replies

5 marks Hindenburg: medal or what?

I also thought about a playcoin, but I've never seen one of that period and so similar to a real one . -
5 marks Hindenburg: medal or what?
luke_idk replied to luke_idk's topic in Exonumia (Tokens, Medals, etc) Forums
Yes I know the original 5 marks coin but, obviously, it's completely different in weight, diameter and metal -
Hallo! I owe a little medal that portraits a 5 marks Hindnburg coin (mint sign D). Does anybody knows what it is? A medal so similar ti a coin's quite strange to me. A token? I don't think so. I'm quite sure it's not a modern copy, since it would sound very strange, due to its simobology. Weight: 1 gram Diametr: 16 mm Magnetic Thanks in advance. Luca

European Currency Unit is a sort of Euro ancestor. In fact, it was a simple currency unit and there wasn't a circulation coinage. Some of European Monetary System's members, anyway, minted a few commemorative coins (I remember of The Netherlands, Belgium, Ireland, Gibraltar). Anyway, just like for Euro, there are a lot of ECU patterns that are not coins, in any way http://en.wikipedia....n_Currency_Unit PS. Maastricht is a Dutch city, where European Union was founded on 1992. In 1993 it replaced old EEC.

Welcome! Just a little ad to what has been said. First coin was minted in 1978 (Arab year 1398). To convert Arab year, you should use a specific conversion table, but you can approximate it, this way: Arab year * 0.97 + 622 = AD year Konstantinos Kanaris is portraited on Grecian coin, you showed http://en.wikipedia....tantine_Kanaris -

Netherland Antilles coins should have been replaced by new dutch caribbean coins, since this dutch oversea territory split in different territories. CuraƧao and Sint Maarten joined a new monetary union, that is still unborn...
