I bought a 5 Kopek 1795 EM and some banknotes from our local club meeting yesterday. Today I received the finnish 5 Euro commemorative 2005.

I'm easy too, a Morgan Dollar would be nice

Our mailperson brought me Indian Head Cents today! 1889, 1892, 1902, 1903 and 1907

Yesterday I received a Rouble of 1898 ** and some old swedish coins. One of the swedes... 1/2 Skilling Riksgälds 1802 ...and the rouble:

I got two nice banknotes, 500 roubles 1920 and 10000 roubles 1919, both issued by counterrevolutionary army of Denikin and Wrangel.

Paris was quite logical choice, France and Russia were allies and they had good minting technologies. About Brussels I say nothing. I think that is one of the reasons to mint coins in Osaka was the geography. It sure must have been easier to transport coins from Osaka to Siberia than from Petrograd to Siberia. Coins of Osaka must have to be intended to circulate in eastern Russia. The train system was used in other purposes during the war. And since Japan was now an ally, why not? Only my theory though...

I'm afraid I have no facts about it, only assumings, but I think it has something to do with insufficient capacity of the mint of the SPB. There was apparently a huge need for new coins since they made them a lot in all the three places. Some copper coins of the same period are known to be made in Birmingham too, but they can't really be distinguished from the russian ones.

Yesterday I got few soviet coins from Sir Sisu, today I got a beautifull AUNC-UNC Rouble 1899**. A very nice beginning for a new week, wonder what I'll get next

The poor pictures on cataloques are nothing compared to these beautifull large scans! That must be the most beautifull coin I've ever seen.

Ooh, Jeggy, you have awesome coins! The paradice-bird on the obverse of the Neu Guinea mark would definately be nice to see

A commemorative medal for the Romanov Dynasty tercentennary. It was given to officials all over the Empire in 1913. The commemorative coin above was modeled after this medal. There are many varieties of it, forgeries and private made ones are quite common too. On the obverse, which is quite similar to the commemorative rouble, are the first and the last tsars Mihail I and Nicholas II, and on the reverse the following text: BЪ ПAMЯTb 300- ЛETIЯ ЦAPCTBOBAHIЯ ДOMA POMAHOBЫXЪ 1613-1913 Very rough translation is "For the 300 years of tsarhood of the House of Romanov 1613-1913".

A friend from Australia send this (and a book and some nice Australian coins) to me: 1 Rouble 1800 SPB OM I know, it's very worn, but I like it Thanks gxseries!
