  1. OMG, that reminded me of the massive Russian 5 kopeks coins Or rather, the Swedish and Russian copper plates
  2. Yes, I know I should have posted in the link section, but meh, This is by a Japanese coin collector, and his Russian coin collections are more than amazing, as he has most of rubles by year type, which are hard to get hold, and some of them are in PROOF condition too!!! Not to forget that he does have TRIAL coins too!!! Sekine's silver ruble collection Enjoy!
  3. Well originally the Statue of Liberty is from France... am I going to assume that politics has caused the coin designs to go stale as the relationship of US and France are not at the best times ever?
  4. I was pretty sure he missed typing a zero in there... gold is staying around 440USD per ounce right now...
  5. lol @ "when I hit the lottery"
  6. Hum, are you sure they aren't those "coins" used for those magician coins? Those coins are pretty scarce to come by. Here is a link that syzygy was talking about: Link
  7. Probably one of the fastest BIN items while the price tag is pretty high for it... I really wished I had that money to buy such coin... my coin store sells the same coin except that it's totally battered and circulated Auction item here Last year, I saw the same coin around the same grade going for around 500-600USD... can't believe it has gone that high
  8. Now I am totally confused... What should I order... Any idea of the price tag?
  9. I don't know why I was being awfully silly, but I guess I called up a mint here in Australia when I wondered what kind of qualification was needed to work in a mint. Nevertheless, I didn't even stand a chance to apply as one Keeping that aside, one of the interesting stories that came out from one of mint directors is that, although quite a lot of the mints are supposely government owned, the mints are supposed to be responsible for their own sales and losses, and the governments would not even give them a penny to help them out! This is one of the reasons why the mints keep on producing such commemorative coins or mint sets. I was pretty suprised out of the whole story, well yes, in a sense, it does make some sense, but does this apply to the rest of the mints worldwide?
  10. That is the whole purpose of minting commemorative coins nowadays
  11. Must request... for all trial notes by coinpeople... XD;;; Can I request one too Tane? XD;;;
  12. huhuhu, how I wished I knew Spanish...

    1 Rouble 1921-1922

Super XXL images for people who want details of this coin: Obverse: Reverse:
  15. Hahaha, I have seen so many of those "magicians" coins. I don't know if I can tell the difference between a genuine error one or such.
  16. But but but!!! I thought this is one of the official ones! http://coinpeople.com/index.php?showtopic=828&st=0 Not that I don't like this design.

    1 Rouble 1921-1922

P.S. There are PROOF rubles for both 1921 and 1922, but they are exceeding scarce, and easily go over 1,000USD because of their extreme scarcity.

    1 Rouble 1921-1922

P.S. the 1922 ruble is worth a lot more than the 1921 ruble because there are a lot less 1922 rubles. You can probably get a 1921 star ruble around 20USD or so, but a 1922 ruble will cost at least 4 to 5 times more, becaue of it's scarcity Therefore, if you do happen to see a 1922 ruble, snap it right away if you think the value is right.
  19. Most probably 15grams of pure gold... although I have no idea. Like what josemartins said, it would be best if you can weight it, and if it weighs 16.66 grams, it's definately 15 grams of pure gold in it. Nice medal btw.
  20. That was indeed some of the issues that came out from the discussions. And that is why a few people suggested at least 3 generations of previous issues are to be included as the modern isses, but of course, you can vary the number of generations from countries to countries. Of course we know that some countries actually did reform their coin values just this year, such as Turkey and Romania.
  21. I talked to some other collectors, and some of the best arguments out from that is that anything that's considered legal tender is definately a modern issue. Most probably, the modern issues should include at least 3 sets of previous "legal tender" issued coins, i.e. 3 generations, to make them fairly modern...
  22. 80cents? I can print mine as low as 5cents, including the cost of papers and ink per page...
  23. "602 = gxseries (if you want them)" <- Most definately a yes!!! Thanks!!!
  24. Argh... they always forget that it is often the "investors" that have to take real responsibility for the coins that they bought.
