  1. Not to exciting, but a 1940-S Wheatie in very nice shape--from a coinstar bin in San Diego. (Also found a 2002 Canadian Penny in an OKC coinstar last night) Ciao, and Hook 'em Horns, Capt-AWACS, Veni,Vidi, Bibi
  2. I sold my Old Spanish Trail half. I had just had it slabbed at "Cleaned" net AU58 and it was a nice coin. I bought it when I lived near Panama City, FLorida, and I sold it in Edmond, OK to pay for a trip (which was awesome BTW) The reason I liked the OST was the Longhorn :-) Ciao, and Hook 'em Horns, Capt-AWACS, I'm from Texas, what country are you from
  3. Finally received my 2005 Lewis & Clark Nickel/medal proof set after months of back orders. Ciao, and Hook 'em Horns, Capt-AWACS, Women have more issues than Newsweek
  4. Did North or South Dakota decide to use the Buff as well? I know they are not out yet but I remember some chatter on the subject. No recuerdo. Ciao, and Hook 'em Horns, Capt-AWACS, Most women have more issues than Newsweek
  5. I have the proof sets (which I would buy even without the quarters). I also have an album I fill just for fun. Other than that I do have all the Texas quarters/items, that is the only one I collect "on purpose". I do think the 50 state quarters is a great concept. Ciao, and Hook 'em Horns, Capt-AWACS, Not all pilots are alcoholics, We don't go to meetings
  6. Got my check for $540 from Olmstead currency. I sold them 165 of my banknotes! Still waiting for my backordered US mint nickle box. Ciao, and Hook 'em Horns, Capt-AWACS, Texas 25, OSU 22
  7. Yes coin dealers especially seem to be grumpy and most of the "old" guys are grumpy. And yes I worked in a coin store at one time, many moons ago. I vote aye. Ciao, and Hook 'em Horns, Capt-AWACS, Forum Alpha Breeder Male

  9. Checked a favourite coin-star machine and found a 1943 steel cent. A little rust, but okay. I'll try and pass it off as a dime, as that is about what it is worth :-) Ciao, and Hook 'em Horns, Capt-AWACS, All red heads are nuts
  10. USA, Canada and Belize are my main three countries. I collect stuff from all over the world through my moving and travels, but those are my three focus countries right now. Ciao, and Hook 'em Horns, Capt-AWACS, Fat girls need love too...or so I am told

  16. Well I'll try another auction: Front back images are actual notes Start the bidding at $2.00 USD, bid up in 25c intervals. Auction ends at 6:00Pm 1800hrs CDT/0100zulu on Saturday. I take paypal or will wait for a moneyorder/cash. You pay postage anyway you like- minimum $0.60US or $1.05 int'l or $3.85 US priority mail. 17. Here is the 1899 (P) I am offering for sale to ovrundr-there is some toning bottom obv, top rev. Two different scans of the same coin. I couldn't get more light on the scan to show the toning as well as I wanted Ciao, and Hook 'em Horns, Capt-AWACS, Womanizer, Pilot, Cat-Owner, Golfer, Texan
  18. they were made in Colombia, but spent in Ecuador as the US Dollar is the currency of Ecuador. In Ecuador all we spent were Sacs, very few one dollar bills. Sacs are everywhere. Ditto Panama and El Salvador on the US dollar, though Panama does not have that many Sacs, though I haven't been back to Panama in several years. I'll try or look on my next rotation to Ecuador. Ciao, and Hook 'em Horns, Capt-AWACS, Stick forward, trees get bigger, stick back, trees get smaller
  19. 1899 morgan pics here is the link to my album with the 1899 (P) Morgan pics, I tried two scans of each side. Let me know, thanks. Ciao, and Hook 'em Horns, Capt-AWACS, Live Well, Laugh Often, Love Much
  20. I just called a buddy who is doing the mission down in Manta now and told him to look out for any "fakes" or ugly Sacs. Maybe I can get one for you in a few weeks. I might be transiting El Salvador in a few weeks and will look around the airport for any bad sacs there as well. Ciao, and Hook 'em Horns Capt-AWACS, Carpe Imperium
  21. Link won't work for me EDIT- fixed the link http://www.coinworld.com/news/102102/News-4.asp I wouldn't doubt it, but most of the ones I saw all looked good, but you never know. I saw literally scores of fake US 19th century gold coins in the mid-east. At some gold souqs in Dubai and Riyadh you can take a genuine $20 gold piece and have it copied within a few days, and have as many made as you want, at various qualities. Ciao, and Hook 'em Horns, Capt-AWACS, Future Houston Mayor
  22. yep, it is US and post 1982 so I'm thinking (like most everyone else) the very small amount of copper coating got stripped off and you are left with the "silvery" zinc colour. What did you clean it with? Acid, Brasso, Detergent...? Ciao, and Hook 'em Horns, Capt-AWACS, Watching you from 30,000 feet
  23. Do you mean a US one cent piece or a British Penny? If it is US, back in 82 the comp. was changed to mainly Zinc and the weight is less than the old copper cents. The grey is probably from some sort of paint/colouring applied by someone later on. Ciao, and Hook 'em Horns, Capt-AWACS, Yankee Air Pirate
  24. As others have noted above it is a little bit of both. People steal coins and spend them. I know it happened to me, and many moons ago when I worked as the "Deli guy" at a grocery store I had folks spending "odd" coins all the time. I once I had a kid pay for food with 3 Franklin halves (this was 1996). He just didn't strike me as a coin collector, but I could be wrong..needless to say I kept the coins I even had a guy ask if he could spend a 1/10 oz Gold Eagle on food... I of course said only $5 worth and he got a bit pissed, so I offered to buy it for $25 (gold was only 280ish then) ...he
