Threw out some low-ball bids on a bunch of Bosnian notes from a seller out of Sarajevo, just for the heck of it. Never expected to win, and gradually, I was out-bid on several of the lots. Did manage to win 3, which was a big surprise to me. I think I paid about $8 delivered for this trio, and got a cool Bosnian stamp as a bonus.

A few more from the Serbian Republic in Croatia (Republika Srpska Krajina). With these 3 additions, my wantlist is down to 6 out of series of 34. Hopefully I will get them done soon, and can move on to other areas.

This is the other note that arrived late last week. 1994 5 novih dinara, featuring Nikola Tesla, one of the most famous Serbians.

Today also brought a pair of notes, both of these from the 1944 "Partisans' series".

Also got a trio of Czech Republic coins from SP1, which have been delegated to the "coins to scan" pile, which is steadily growing. May take an evening and just scan everything to get myself caught up.

Had a full mailbox today, but only one scan, so far.

My wantlist is getting smaller and smaller. I think I have 3 more Yugoslavian notes in the mail system to me right now, and then I am going to re-write my wantlist, so I can see exactly what I need, and keep from buying too many more duplicates.

Besides the above note, I also got a very nice slabbed Yugoslavian coin (NGC MS64 1938 1 dinar), which I am clueless on how to scan decent. Also got a very nice proof 1986 UK £1 as a gift from a dealer over there that I help with his e-mail. And a package with 4 lots of stamps (about 60 total).

Lots of goodies in the box today. First off is the single note, which finishes out the 1990 issues for me.

Next was a single coin, filling in an aggravating hole that I really wanted filled.

Then came the pair of new issues from Bosnia

And finally, this Macedonian piece, which I have never seen before. The obverse is same as KM#9, but the reverse is the same as KM#2. A mule?? An unlisted type?? Or maybe just not in my old 2002 Krause??

Besides the above, I got a nice Russian silver coin from Unk. for an AuctionMonster win, and a group of nice stamps from Yugoslavia.

As I broaden my collection to encompass a wider variety of fiscal collectible items from the region of Yugoslavia, I felt I needed a couple representative pieces of the petrol bons (fuel ration coupons) issued throughout the modern history of the area. Contrary to common mis-conception that these items were a bi-product of the multitude of civil wars in the region during the early 1990's, the usage of these fuel coupons preceeds the wars by many years, with a good variety of available pieces from throughout the 1980's, when the early stages of the post-Tito power struggle created a steady inflation and worsening economy.

Just a single item in today's mail, but it's definitely a beauty!!

Large brass medal commemorating President Josip Broz Tito's 80th birthday.

When I saw this, and read the description, it said that it was 47mm. It never really dawned on me just how large 47mm really is.

If you notice the legends on the obverse look a little blurry. The reason for this is that the bust of Tito is such high relief that the rims of the medal do not even touch the glass of my scanner.

BTW, cost me a whole $12 delivered from Austria. This is why I love browsing the non-US eBays.

A single coin, but it's another hole filled, so I am very happy with it. Found it in a lot of 5 coins from a seller in Germany. And with this acquisition, I owe Tabbs yet again for an assist with getting payment to the seller.

Also, finally got my new Mandic catalog of Yugoslavian coins. Only took a little over 3 weeks for it to get here. Postmarked 09-Mar-06, arrived 31-Mar-06 (with a big red rubber stamp on the front that reads "received in damaged condition" - the book is fine, but the padded envelope has seen better days). Just browsing through it, I already discovered some new coins that I was unaware of, and will need to see if I can find.

Another mailbox full of goodies, yesterday.

To start with, there was a package with 4 lots of stamps, found several keepers in there.

Next was a pair of Yugoslavian notes, from a seller in Belgium

P#86 - 1974 - 1000 dinara

900448A.jpg

900448B.jpg

P#91c - 1986 - 500 dinara

Then a Macedonian note to fill another hole.

P#4 - 1992 - 100 denar

900450A.jpg

900450B.jpg

And the final piece is a "bon" from NaMa - Narodna Magazin (National Storehouse), which is a large robna kuca (department store, or emporium), located throughout Yugoslavia, founded in 1946. This particular piece has a counterstamp on the reverse, dated 1958. I guess you could call this piece an early gift certificate.

The seller that I bought this from has told me that he also has a couple more of higher denominations, and I am waiting for him to find them and offer them to me.

Finally, a coin to show!!  Been getting lots of stamps, but haven't been finding many new coins to add to the collection.  Just happened to stumble upon this and got in a good snipe bid to bring this one home for less than melt value.

I actually like it! :ninja:
