Gold over blue scans, they look Pedro's (Leal) auctions. :ninja:

The 5000 won't be much higher (perhaps a little over 400 US$), the peça on the other hand, i doubt it will go below 900 US$...

It is normal for the 5000 Reis coins (and the 10000 Reis as well) to be nice, most of them are at least XF, investment wise i would buy 2000 Reis coins in XF/AU or better, that denomination is scarce in high grades.

Spanish gold is much more affordable, one can get a Spanish "Alfonsina" (25 Ptas) in VF/XF for about 20/30 Euro over bullion...

That is the unfortunate thing with Iberian gold, it is fairly scarce and not overly affordable, but the silver and bronze are another story :ninja:

No, they're the original ones. I can go to the Spanish Ebay and BIN one (several star dates) for a little over 150 Euro...

I had one (sold it) that i bought for less then 130 Euro and that was less than a year ago.

Those are usually the 1960's restrikes though.

Jose,

good eye, they are indeed Pedro's auctions. Thanks for the input on the coins themselves, I really appreciate the input from someone from Portugal. Do you know Pedro, and can you vouch for his reputation in the coin business? thanks again!

Doug,

I've bought from him and was pleased with the purchase, he also have a good reputation in the Portuguese numismatic market.

But here's some advice, evaluate the coins for the pics as he tends to be a little assertive in his auction texts and all Portuguese dealers are usually a bit liberal with their BU and UNC definitions...

Just a question, which grade would you give to those coins?
