banivechi
Certainly I don't have the patience to do this manually, so I have programmed all the constraints into excel, and despite going through thousands of iterations, there is no feasible solution based on the current set of constraints. So there might be an error in here somewhere! My last guess was screwy because I forgot to set the sensitivity to 0 instead of 5%. Either way, we are stuck till after midnight! Certainly I don't have the skills to do this in excel, so I have the patience to do it manually...
Brett
For a prize to be determined....... During the Calander year 2005 I recovered exactly 4800 coins with my detector. Of that total 162 were Foriegn(non-US) That leaves 4632 coins with a face value of $297.88. What i am wondering is if you found 4800 coin and 162 were Foriegn, then the correct number of US coins should total 4638 not 4632!!!!

Well, I recalculated in excel, and there must be some other error someplace since there are still no feasible solutions using 2498, 2503, 2508, 2513 or 2518 for the number of cents (these are the only numbers that would result in an 8 for the total that are between 2493 and 2523). This is a tough one!
jtryka
OK, this is as close as I could get: Cent=2494 Nickels=481 Dimes=1114 Quarters=548 Halves=1 Dollars=0 Total Coins 4638 worth $297.
Brett
But if the total amount of coins is wrong, the $ figure he provided would also be wrong!!!!

Brett
Cents - 2493Nickels - 474 Dimes - 1115 Quarters - 549 Halves - 1 Dollars - 0 Based on the numbers in the initial question, my answers are right!!! Now if the quanity is wrong and the total dollar value is wrong, then i would be wrong. But since I'm not I WIN!!!

Dockwalliper
do we still have to wait 12 hours between guesses? Due to my errors you can have a bonus guess now, but then the clock starts again.
