  1. Mistake counterfeiters did on 1781 reverse will be soon corrected. These replicas are so convincing that I am afraid we may start seeing these in NGC slabs soon. Does anyone knows how to tell these replicas from real coins? May be copper has a different composition or else. If these coins cannot be detected - this is end then for Siberia coin collecting.
  2. I cannot comment much on this auction - I only can say starting bids were grossly overpriced for me, so from very first look at catalog I decided it is not for me. How much did you pay for Siberian 5 k?
  3. another fake by "directorsssr" - 1rouble 1912 comemoration of 1812 war http://www.ebay.com/...984.m1423.l2649
  4. Sigi, I just posted some information on eBay watch thread.
  5. Some will have difficulty to believe but these two coins sold in same time by "directorsssr" are fakes as well. I was able to determine myself that 10k 1781 is fake by comparing details of this coin with all known to me authentic examples. There is a lot of their pictures on the web. For 1771 I was in doubt and created separate topic on COINS.SU discussing authenticity of these 2 coins. See here for those who read Russian: http://coins.su/foru...showtopic=99213 Both were named fakes by individual I trust. Noone say anything in their defence. Apparently these 2 coins are from relatively new series of Siberia fakes which are made very convincing. Noone wanted to shear particular details how these fakes can be detected. I myself desided to buy one of these if their price would be reasonable for trying to find way how to tell them from authentic ones. But as you all see many people swollow this bait and fought for them as for real ones. links to eBay: http://www.ebay.com/...984.m1423.l2649 http://www.ebay.com/...984.m1423.l2649
  6. All coins sold by eBay seller direktorsssr are either fake or questionable.
  7. fake Coronation 1883 rouble http://rover.ebay.com/rover/1/711-53200-19255-0/1?icep_ff3=2&pub=5574633083&toolid=10001&campid=5335826004&customid=&ipn=psmain&icep_vectorid=229466&kwid=902099&mtid=824&kw=lg&icep_item=261144378067
  8. IgorS, this way definately has potential. When I do it next time I certainly will try it.
  9. Your question does not feel strange at all. Here is the tool you will need to open a slab. The larger tool is the better.
  10. http://www.ebay.com/...984.m1423.l2649 if anyone is bidding on this item - beware, this item costs NOTHING. It is just a tourist souvenir.
  11. IMHO it is authentic coin. Bubbling up of outer surface happenes due to corrosion under outer purer silver layer on some 18 century Russian coins. Coin is junk anyways due to this corrosion.
  12. these are mint marks which are supposed to be two stars. due to die wear stars transformed into this shape.
  13. Sigi, how about this one? Quite a few of Siberian 1767s can be found on eBay lately. : http://rover.ebay.com/rover/1/711-53200-19255-0/1?icep_ff3=2&pub=5574633083&toolid=10001&campid=5335826004&customid=&ipn=psmain&icep_vectorid=229466&kwid=902099&mtid=824&kw=lg&icep_item=321025896371
  14. Be careful! This is just worthless souvenir. Price this seller claims for it in eBay is a fraud.
  15. my guess it is in VF+ condition and is worth around 500 dollars.
  16. This is authentic Russian Polushka (1/4 kopeck) coin in average poor condition.
  17. I see both sides of coin on eBay site. Check if you have your internet browser updated.
  18. Corwin, with current eBay policy we as sellers can do nothing against what you experiencing.
  19. Are you saying after 1 day since end of auction buyer already told you they do not want to pay?
  20. actually I looked again and saw it is EM not KM. Try same and you will see that it is just a play of light making it look K when it is in fact E.
  21. Looking at this coin I was curious myself but was shy to ask same question.
