  1. Consecutively serialed notes from that era are interesting - but I usually never collect them in more than 2 notes. I have some consecutive notes back to the 1930s from RBS and BoS - and they are worth more than individual notes. But when you go with more than 2 notes the prices for multiples start to slide down. The 1969 dated notes are pretty common, a lot of people saved them because they were a brand new design from the recently merged Royal Bank of Scotland LTD which was the amalgamation of National Commercial and Royal Bank that year. The valuable notes from that era are the Bank of Scotland notes from 68-70 and the British Linen notes from the last issue in 1970 before it was taken over by BoS.
  2. Made by the same Chinese minters making the new Lundy, Palestine, Kurdistan, Cabinda and Kerguelen Islands coins.
  3. I get Canada coins in change so much I don't even give them a second look unless they have GVI, or QEIIYH on them. I find a reasonable amount of GVI cents and even 5 centers in roll searches - they pop up in change occasionally.
  4. Back in the mid 1980's I can remember buying some of the copper coins from junk boxes out in Berkeley California - something like 10 cents each. The best part was that I was on company time, worked for a plumbing contractor and was selling scrap metal from old jobs.
  5. I like that series also, sometime back I was reading the bios of the people portrayed on them - very fascinating. I really like African coins that I find in coinstars, and love African notes because they are just so unique.
  6. She stayed in the car - have a new car with a much better sound system that we can plug the MP3 and the kids into.
  7. Two trips to coin counting machines at my credit unions today Credit Union 1 Hong Kong 10 cents 1987 sort of a cool find East Caribbean States 25 Cents 2004 - ho hum, I get these every week or so. Mexico 50 Pesos 1988 - get these all the time, they are thicker than a quarter so they reject. Kenya 1 shilling 2005 - now this is a cool find, I don't find too many coins from Africa. Credit Union 2, stopped to cash in about $100 in cents and nickels from another bank bag search this afternoon Checked the reject slot, and look in - imagine my surprise when I see a dateless Standing Liberty Quarter. I have found silver Roosies before, but never a silver quarter in a reject slot. It is probably AG-3 at the very best and I cannot discern a date on it, but one of my better individual finds in recent months. I would upload an image of it, but my camera gave the ghost yesterday.
  8. Back on topic about French inspired notes: With all of controversy about breast feeding baby in public in USA - I find this note so interesting.
  9. Oh you speak of this one: These didn't circulate long because they were then demonetised quickly. Must have been interesting to live in Romania during that time and keep having your money go worthless. These notes are also stinkers to find in nice condition.
  10. Actually Siluska - I have had same problems with some Romanian notes. I have gotten the best Romanian notes from the source, my friend in Timisoara who is also member here.
  11. It is a note that is a real pain in the bum to find without folds, pinholes etc. I still want that note, but either prices were too high or problems too many for me to buy. BTW I did see a real worn out 5 Peso from 1930 Uruguay - we know how rare those are.
  12. Lots of finds, mostly Mexican lately - best so far is a nice EF '43-S steelie though.
  13. The note is real, the stamp is not. People are creating the handstamps - stamping the notes and selling them on eBay. Essentially they are fantasies. If you look in the paper money section there are literally dozens of these for sale at any given time, occupation notes, regular German notes, invaded countries notes etc.
  14. 1993 2 kopeks, aluminium, kind of unusual to find the aluminium examples - they were only minted in 1993 and 1994. The subsequent years were struck in stainless steel.
  15. A veritably huge pile of bills, adverts, magazines etc that piled up whilst I was in Ukraine, I am home for a week then turn around and go back next week.
  16. You (insert obligatory expletive again) bought that before I saw it, the other one was cleaned and just too bright for my likes. But my my my I love that design, that is the epitome of expressionism, with a very passionate feel to it what with Artemis and her quiver, the Lion. A wonderous tie into ancient mythology and depth coupled with a degree of modernism.
  17. Loverly high relief and contrast on that particular medal. PLMK how you conserve this, I have a WWII Death Penny that needs some similar conservation.
  18. She prices high, but she sells nice stuff and you will always be pleased.
  19. See323 must have found Pam West I have found that she seems to have the "in" as far as getting nice serials from Scottish banks. I have a serial # 00000011 set of Robert Burns notes from the Clydesdale from 1996.
  20. I would like one of the Holy Freres, and any with attractive feminine portraits on them. I like Swiss Misses.
  21. 'Cept it was some hillbillies fighting the British in 1775:
  22. That is sweet. One of my favourite national designs.
  23. My problem going to the coinstar is that I have all my rugrats that race to get them, and in fact, I had to fight off the five year old the most(she ends up with all the finds anyway - her money loving heart at work)
