  1. My December purchases arrived today. Roosevelt Dimes: •NGC ••2002S Clad PF69UC ••1994S Clad PF69UC ••1981P MS66FT ••1981D MS66FT •PCGS ••1973S PR68CAM ••1971S PR68CAM I'll post pics and add them to omnicoin when I get to the photography thing.
  2. It's not surprising that there's nothing left for me. You're getting all the great stuff.
  3. I can see where it adds to the challenge of putting a set of notes together. That's fun.
  4. Thanks Dave. I did not know any of this. So the banks issue the notes under government authority. Value and trade-wise they are completely interchangeable - is that correct?
  5. I like the architectural contrast on those notes Dave. Please why two different banks? Do they have a central banking establishment with subsidiaries or some such thing?
  6. Is that the "best" known example? Do you have the Provenance for the coin? If so how far back can it be traced?
  7. Interesting find. Any local coin shows recently?
  8. A high post count makes a CoinPeep happy. (At least this CoinPeep). I probably check these machines 4 or 5 times a month. I only post something when in the mood because all of you lucky folks are talking about your great finds. Sure pick on the guy with the low post count.
  9. I'm going to make an effort over 2012 to get all of the pictures for museums and such onto Omnicoin or Banknotebank to keep them from getting "lost".

Take a look at Ghana in banknotes for an example.

Would you be interested in having "curators" for different sections of the museum? Ex. Mark Stilson curates the Morgan section. I curate the Peace dollar section. Etc. Then we can add our own expertise (VAMs, patterns, etc) to the museum.

  10. Thanks to everyone for their help in choosing a new id. I have mailed the prizes to the winners this afternoon. So when my new id (now Art2) gets to 56789 or maybe 45678 posts they'll be another contest like this.
  11. They are a departure from the brighly colored notes we see from many places lately. Of the three the 5 Piasters is the nicest for my tastes.
  12. I have most certainly changed my mind on this. I really enjoy the Roosevelts and especially find the PRDCAM coins attractive. Over time things can change, even me.
  13. I think you're correct on that one.
  14. Many lost images. I'll see about recovering what I can.
  15. Looks like it had contact with some acid?
  16. You really have got to love a Jefferson Nickel in silver. 1945S MS65 obv by UGotaHaveArt, on Flickr 1945S MS65 rev by UGotaHaveArt, on Flickr
  17. Here's the same coin from my flicr files at a higher resolution. I think it looks much better. 1941 MS65FS obv by UGotaHaveArt, on Flickr 1941 MS65FS rev by UGotaHaveArt, on Flickr
  18. Of course no set of Presidential Dollars would be complete without George.
  19. I'm planning to add a few notes from Ghana and a few MPCs this coming year. I always enjoy this thread and certainly wish I could contribute a bit.
  20. I have never had any luck in searching dimes or quarters. Not a single silver hit. Halfs are good to me. Nickels never produced much -- I do intent to try them again. Maybe I'll get a bunch tomorrow.
  21. I had some "Reveal" bulbs that were pretty good for photography in that they were close to daylight temps. Never found them to be much different than the others I used in that all still need some white balance adjustment. Of course with film you could do filtering but man that's quite a hassle.
  22. Here's a nice full-stop Jefferson from my collection. It's hard to tell much from this picture. I'll load a larger higher res image to flickr later today.
