  1. Where's the button that they push when to send out a spoiler?
  2. I'll take them! Cheap, too! All fantastic. Thanks for the colorful, texture-filled pics.
  3. Bravo, TG! What an analysis! Though I don't agree with every point, I love how insightful you are! 1) I think the gov't already has done that research under more... enlightened congresses. Might only take the signature on a law to get those coins minted. Maybe switching out machines and suppliers would take a year, but the research should be done. 2) Liberty would be great but there's too much financial interest in more tangible designs. I wonder how much each parks' tourist numbers have improved 3) dead on 4) never liked holed... 5) great point I never thought about! 6) keep it as is. 7) not gonna touch this one!
  4. Oy. I'm not one of those people who are anti-PC or super-PC, so please don't take what I say out of context. I agree with the above commenters. Perhaps some Asian-Canadian focus groupers were offended by the science stereotype? We certainly wouldn't get a great reaction in the US if we had an African-American playing basketball on a bill. We'd get "Why not as a scientist? Or a lawyer?" But discussion is good and healthy.
  5. Welcome, Carlos! I certainly know NOTHING about ancients but that does not look authentic to me. There are many people here who can tell you the right answer. Good luck! Hope it's real!
  6. For your VAM set, what is the lowest grade you can stomach? i.e. if you see a VAM you need at one of these things but the coin is ugly, will you pick it up?
  7. I bet nothing beats holding one of those notes in your hand, Dave
  8. Yeah... everytime I pass one and think of checking it, I see nothing in the bin.
  9. I agree with const. I've never sold a coin myself. But I've also spent years trying to get a few key coins/notes and neglected other parts of my collection (type set)
  10. I really really need to keep track of my type set. I was at a store last week and had no idea which type set coins I had/needed (besides the obvious ones)
  11. I'd looooove to try that funnel cake.
  12. SM noticed the same thing I did - the long s used left and right with no apparent pattern.
  13. Wahoo!!! Congrats, RWJ! Can someone elaborate on his many accomplishments for those of us who aren't members?
  14. hahaha I swear I remember you selling her. Glad you get to keep both girls!
  15. Welcome back! You've got a lot of ground to make up!
  16. Added two coins to my under-attended type set yesterday - an 1854-O (arrows) Seated Liberty half dime in fine and an 1868 shield nickel in XF. I will post pics later (tomorrow probably) and owe you guys some pics of some big pickups way back in March!
  17. Congrats on the find, Bill! What is "pestering" exactly?
  18. This is the first time I've thought about it and... I don't have any major overlaps at all. I collect US coins & currency by series, so there is very little overlap built in. And they are homogenous enough that there are no subcollections. Interesting.
  19. At the US mint, when you see 1 coin like that, you most likely see several thousand others. If you're not seeing a double-die listed for that date, I'm assuming it's either INCREDIBLY RARE (and therefore worth thousands) or counterfeit
