Ray
Hi Christian, Please remove the ? from my name. I would like to buy this coin, and thank you for the offer.
tabbs
These are the next three coins in the German States series: 2007: Mecklenburg-Vorpommern Schloss Schwerin (Schwerin Castle, also the state parliament) Design: Heinz Hoyer 2008: Hamburg Michaeliskirche (St. Michael's Church) Design: Erich Ott 2009: Saarland Ludwigskirche in Saarbrücken Design: Friedrich Brenner (The common sides, designed by Luc Luycx, are likely to be adapted to the new design which shows a geographical map of Europe.) In my opinion the MV coin looks good, the HH piece I do not really like, and the SL coin is, well, sort of nice. But of course I will get them all. Mortyr2012
My favorite is the 2007er Commemorative... the other coins are ... yuck...
Art
I like all three designs. 2007 -- the Castle and Parliament buildings present a very nice "city scape". I will certainly want on of these. 2008 -- Moves from the busy design of the 2007 to a simpler design where the church is the single focal point. Lots of space around it. If you look at the existing 2€ commemoratives some are over crowded to the point of being difficult to appreciate in low relief. This is a design that will hold true even in the low relief required of the circulating coin. 2009 -- Saarland is again a simple design with a clear focal point. I like it. I'll be looking for all of these in the years ahead.
tabbs
Yes, the "MeckPomm" coin is my favorite too, and I hope the actual coins will be as detailed as this draft. We'll see - in nine to ten months. Hamburg, well, I do not quite understand anyway why the name of the state to be honored always has to be so tiny. May be a political decision, don't know. But in this particular case the contrast (tiny state name, vast empty space) looks particularly strange. Saarland ... as I wrote before. According to the Federal Ministry of Finance, the maximum mintage per issue will be 30 million. Christian

tabbs
Here are some larger pictures (not from an official site, but neat) of the three winning designs. Also some designs that won second, third, etc. prizes but will not be minted. Since the state governments decide in advance which buildings are to be depicted, the differences between the designs are not as big as with €10 collector coins ... Art
Most of the designs are very nice. About the only one that I really don't care for is the Hamburg design with the tower in isolation. It's the first under the designs no to be minted.
Mortyr2012
Since the 1st July you can order a set with all 2 Euro commemoratives from Germany 2006 with all mintmarks. It's maybe the same like the 50 State Quarter Program. Every year there is only one two euro commemorative which will represent every German state. This serie will be completed in 16 years Bu-Set Mintage unknown Price 16 Euro + S/H Proofset Mintage unknown Price 29 Euro + S/H
banivechi
My set of 2 euro 2006 coins A-J is in different designed folder, and it was bought at face value. Even the silver 10 euro coins WM are still available to Hertie supermarket at face value... I saw in center 2 euro sets for sale at 17.50 euro, but this is in an expensive area... tabbs
My set of 2 euro 2006 coins A-J is in different designed folder, and it was bought at face value. The two folders depicted above have just been issued by the German Numismatic Office, due to the many requests from collectors. When the coins came out a few months ago, there were no such sets. So the only option for people who wanted to have a five-coin set was to buy a "non-official" set ... so far. I assume that collectors who plan to buy all five every year, from now on, will also get this newly issued set. Well, I am not really into such packed and sealed sets ... saankarite
I am not sure I followed the whole subject. I am kind of interested, but I don't know the price for a coins! Are you talking about single coins or the whole set of the german serie! Thanks!
Vielwerth
@tabby thanks, were talking about the single coins, right?
tabbs
were talking about the single coins, right? Right. Last time I was at my local Bundesbank branch office, I was told that they have them on the official date of issue - which is tomorrow. And next week I won't have that much time, so ... @saankarite: The price is displayed on the coin. Well, plus shipping. I will just get whatever they have at the bank; that will most likely be pieces from one mint only. Christian

Vielwerth
Hi, do you like the assembeld 2€ collection? I get them from the WMF in Berlin. Sepp
tabbs
do you like the assembeld 2€ collection? Yes, nice sets. I for one do not collect Germany "by mint mark"; only by year. But for those who want these pieces from all five mints or minting facilities, that is an attractive option. And apparently there is a demand for such sets - after all, last year (when the German States series started) there was no such set first. Once enough collectors asked and complained, the numismatic office made them ... Christian
