Tane
Thank you all! The dates of the notes are determined by the signature of the director (Управляющiй), who from 1905 to 1910 was Sergey Timashev. So generally the notes with his signature are printed between 1905 and 1910, but since the 3 roubles got renewed in 1905(1906), and the 25 roubles in 1909, the dates are 1905 for the 3R and something between 1905 and 1909 for the 25R. They could be dated more accurately from the serial numbers, like Sir Sisu said, but I don't have enough know-how to do that

Sir Sisu
Thank you all! Of course! Finn notes have signatures too that obviously can determine the general timeline. They could be dated more accurately from the serial numbers, like Sir Sisu said, but I don't have enough know-how to do that I wonder if such a text has ever been published, or if the records even exist to make that even feasible regarding Russia. For Finnish notes, I have Onni Viitala's Suuri Suomalainen Setelikirja. Not sure if you have seen this. Under each banknote he lists the series of serial numbers that were issued for the note and groups them by what year those notes were made. Some are even listed to the day. Not sure if he has taken this from Borg's previous work (I have not seen that book), or if he has had archival access.

bobh
Russia, 1 Rouble 1878 Nice one, Tane! I've been looking myself for this year for awhile. Unfortunately, some of my other recent purchases have set me back a bit, so it will probably be next year before I can add anything similar to my collection.
