Brett
I was wondering how big this coin is. Is it the size of a US silver dollar? And what does an average circulated one go for?
gxseries
It's just massive - 50 grams or so. I'm not too sure what mintmark it is, most likely EM but usually these are going for around 20USD ish even in F+ condition but I would find it difficult to believe there is one that is extremely worn. Brett
Ok, thanks. I knew someone selling one and he wanted $75. It seemed high, but I wanted to check. I guess i will pass on it.

That is the rarest date KM 5 Kopek. Way more than 75. Thats even very low for a common date KM, VF condition., by recent prices. Price for 1781 EM would, of course depend on the grade, patina, etc. 75 for aXF or UNC would be reasonable, in my opinion. Is is possible to post a photo? I would at least see it first. gxseries
Most of you know that I'm absurdly stingy when it comes to prices. Brett, if you want a rough idea of prices, feel free to use Basok's site for reference: http://www.rustypennies.com/catalog/imperial_coins.html If you just want an example of a 5 kopek, I think prices there are reasonable. Brett
The one the guy was selling was an EM. Thanks for the link Gx. The site has the same coin for $40, and its in better condition then the one I was offered.
Scottishmoney
I have seen these 5k coins go in large lots, in fact I think once I bought something like 20 of them for like $150 or something a few years ago. They are neat coins, and fun to fantasize about using as weapons should the need have arrived.
