RicF Posted July 31, 2006 Report Share Posted July 31, 2006 I've been lurking in this site for a few weeks and you all seem friendly so I thought I ought to join My main interest is the British George III coinage (1760-1820). That period of history really fascinates me and the coins are a great way to own a little piece of it. Its nice when there is some connection between the coinage and political, social or military events that were taking place at the time. I have been collecting for about eight months and have quite a few nice items. My favourite is a nice 1813 "Military" guinea minted for Wellington's army in the Peninsular war against Napoleon in Portugal and Spain. Once I get a good feel for that era I might start to broaden my horizons a bit and explore forwards and backwards. Hope to have some interesting discussions on this site and learn lots more.
