Yes, if only they would mint it in an attactive metal instead of gold.

Agreed. If it is silver, I'm buying a handful of them.

Hopefully they can nail the reverse as well.

I like it better than most of what they've been churning out (although you really can't tell until it is on the coin), but I do kind of think it is a shame that they seem mostly unable to make attractive coins without ripping off classics.

I am with Burks and Bustchaser on the gold point...

I am not sure about this one, I guess we'll have to see what they look like. I am not thrilled about buying bullion coins (I only have two and they were both gifts!). I wish they made it a traditional half eagle, then I'd be more excited about it, but a 1/4 ounce bullion coin isn't my bag.

Isn't the mint making first lady medals made of copper based on the designs of the gold coins for us plebeian folk?

According to the legislation they are supposed to.

8) BRONZE MEDALS.--The Secretary may strike and sell

bronze medals that bear the likeness of the bullion coins author-

ized under this subsection, at a price, size, and weight, and

with such inscriptions, as the Secretary determines to be appro-

priate.
