  1. Thank you. I could not even tell the mint from the Krause Catalog until you helped. The mint mark section did not seem to match up until I found the actual coin.
  2. Okay, have not gone through these and got individual pictures yet for omnicoin. Or done a good job of checking them yet. Picked these up at an estate sale. Done by one of the local companies. Just going through them I paid silver price plus a couple bucks for the whole lot, so even if there isn't any big coins still a decent deal. Some of the markings on the envelopes were wrong, like the ones marked Cuba 6 cents is actually a 20 centavo. Few other ones were off. The Cuban 1920 40 centavo is one of my favorites.Need to do some research to find out about the 20 centavos whether coarse or fine reeding. Probably coarse but might as well check.
  3. Picked up a group of coins at an estate sale. This one I'm having problems with. It doesn't really matter if its fake or not. Since the other coins I got are worth more then I paid. Got the lot for approx. silver price of the coins plus a couple bucks. I'm not sure if I have the pics right side up.
  4. got a error message The server encountered an unexpected condition which prevented it from fulfilling the request. The script had an error or it did not produce any output. If there was an error, you should be able to see it in the error log.
  5. Been a little while since I added any thing. I picked up another Texas Store token for my collection. Rube Sessions General Merchandise store $1.00 token. Wells Texas. Approximate date 1925-1940
  6. Did you ever check to see if the 1884 is an alligator eye? http://www.vamworld.com/1884-P+VAM-16 Not a premium on it but neat none the less.
  7. It's got the same contact mark at about 10:00 in both pictures, also same toning line on reverse. . so yep looks like the same one.
  8. You would think since this was known by the government something would have been said before. I mean it was publicly announced in feb. 2009. I'm sure the government had some notice before that.
  9. Went ahead and got the New Cherry Pickers guide. Just the Volume II. The franklin won't be listed but figured I'd like a before and after. It did get me looking at some of the other coins in my collection. (At least the pictures stored on my computer.) Several older pictures need to be retaken. I had saved as gifs and they don't have good resolution. One thing I don't care about the cpg. You would think it would mean its worth more. But a lot of them really don't have a premium. Or a very minimal one. You would think space would be better served by dumping a bunch of those and making one book instead of a volume I and Volume II. But then I guess they would not make as much off them.
  10. Got an odd one. 1989 P quarter lamination error circulation find. Bubbles are not lined up behind each other. Also not sure about the surface. Kind of a sand blast texture, but even the feathers show up on the eagles breast. Not sure if its two errors. The gas bubbles and texture or someone goofed with it and blasted it.
  11. Something I have been wanting for awhile. Krause Standard Catalog of World Coins 1601-Date 5-CD Bundle
  12. 1964 Quarter. Jack in the Box change. Almost paid for My wife and my hamburgers and fries.
  13. I don't know if it helps. But if I remember right it was sixbid.
  14. Most silver around here does pretty good and just takes a water rinse. That one is dirtier them all the others I found.
  15. I have seen it before in one of the European on line auctions.Just having trouble finding it again.
  16. 1963 D Franklin Half Dollar Metal detector find
  17. Nice set of coins. Beautiful matched Maundy set. The 1884 O I think is a VAM 16. Nothing other then the date jumps out at me. 1884-O VAM-16 Very Far Date Discovered by Leroy Van Allen, January 1974. 16 III2 5 - C3a (Very Far Date) (181) I-2 R-3 Obverse III2 5 - Date set much further right than normal. The 1881 O I can't see anything right off bat. Appears normal date position and centered and upright mint mark. On both its kind of tough trying to assign a VAM from a photo unless its something that sticks out.
  18. Don't think it was acid. Maybe electricity? Used as a fuse?
  19. This is a metal detector find at a World War 1 Camp site. I found it near a trash pile from there. No idea what happened to it, but its in very rough shape. For the other finds see the first metal detector finds in the General Discussion forum. (Not much but I think it was interesting.)
  20. I just noticed I never added any of my Mercury dimes. So I'm going to start on them next. I don't have a lot of date/mint mark combinations. But have a lot of duplicates, so I'm just going to try to post 1 of each date/mint mark I do have. When we get moved I need to work on my camera set up. Maybe get a usb camera or at least a camera stand and set up the lighting better. I would like a usb camera and a usb microscope. That way I could have every thing set up and ready to take pictures. Just don't know how well the usb cameras work.
  21. I need to work on my lighting as in new bulbs. Thinking about trying an led bulb. The last group of shots weren't very good. Right now unless I get the lamps almost in the way of shooting they don't turn out well.
