  1. Todays' scan is of the 1986 £2 folder. This is the first £2 coin issued, and was to commemorate the Commonwealth Games. note: the runner on the left (139), is Roger Bannister, who is also commemorated on the 2004 50 pence coin, which honors his feat of breaking the 4 minute mile in the 1954 Olympics.
  2. A quick dip in acetone should help. Be sure to rinse in distilled water, afterwards.
  3. I edited the images to link them to files in my gallery here on CP, so maybe now they will show.
  4. Estimated at over 150 billion stamps issued!!!!
  5. After a lull in activity for my Yugoslavia collection, I have shifted focus to working on my British decimal collection, and have begun to purchase some very nice BRM products. The first 3 scans are £1 BU coins in informative folders. I have only scanned the covers, as these folders are actually about 5 pages of information, and too much time to scan all the pages. The last scan in this post is for the pair of 1989 £2 (Bill of Rights, Claim of Right).
  6. I don't have 50k cash laying around, what with this being a holiday week-end and all. Would you take 48k and a pile of Churchill crowns??
  7. Not real good at scanning notes, but here is a feable attempt at it. If you look into the bushes on the left, you can see the inverted text, including the signature of the new VP. Supposed to be in the open fields on the right.
  8. As most everyone here knows, I am not really a note collector, but always try to add a few to complement my coin collections, when I can find something nice, and priced right. So, with that said, please pardon my ignorance here, and humor me with an answer to a probably silly question. I have had this note for many years, too many to even remember when/where/how/why I got the note, but I have it, and that is that. The note in question is a Nicaragua 5000 cordobas note, crisp uncirculated, in one of those pocket currency holders. I looked it up on Ron Wise's site, and thought I found it as P#146 (1985). But mine has an overprint, so I looked further, and found it listed as P#157 (1988). I checked, and double-checked, and my note is almost the exact same as the picture of P#157. The only difference is the overprint, on the reverse, is inverted. The writing on it is upside down, on the left side of the note, smack dab on top of the building. It's not on the right, in the open space where it should be. The overprint on the obverse is correct, just the reverse overprint is inverted. I did a quick search through a couple of known banknote dealers (banknotes.com, etc.) and it appears that the normal P#157 is a common coin, worth only a couple dollars. Would the inverted overprint make it more valuable, or is it an error as common as the proper note? What kind of value does it have, and is anyone interested??
  9. This is most likely the same Schwartz who engraved the Serbian silver coins of Petar I just prior to the creation of Yugoslavia, correct? I know the early issues (1904 & 1912) were struck at the Vienna mint, while the later issue (1915) was struck both in Vienna and Paris (some of the Paris issues have his signature removed).

  12. Missed this one, but will be watching the new one he listed that ends next Monday.
  13. Definitely a date collector. I like to see a full page of all the dates of an issue, complete.
  14. What makes no sense is that in 1981, a crown (and we are talking a crown sized coin, since the crown valued coins stopped long before then) had a face value of 25p. Yet a few years later, when the next crown was issued in 1990, it had a face value of £5. Some crazy inflation going on over there, or what?!?!
  15. I am working on getting a lot of the British Royal Mint products, but need to control my spending, so I am limiting my requests. As I acquire these pieces, and replenish my allowance, I will add more items. To start with, I am looking for the BU (Specimen) folders of the £1 coin for: 1983 1984 1985
