  3. I cannot imagine a coinless day at the Bunny house, must be awful
  4. Cool, like the screw operated coin press design.
  5. That is a nice piece, not a particularly common variety either. Curiously the pellet in the upper right quadrant looks like it is over something else. It looks as though the die was modified at some late date and they just put a pellet there instead of whatever is under it. For an interesting look at the varieties of these coins look here: Barry Murphy's Page on Cheronessos Hemidrachms
  6. Akrdv sent my son a Romanian 5 Lei from 1930, Peru 2 sols 1995, and some coin we have not an idea of what it is. Bolshoye Spasibo!
  7. Wait til the other 300 + Scottish notes come up for sale beginning this weekend.
  8. Greek city states often borrowed each other's designs, here is an example of a Syracuse 8 Litrai coin from the reign of Agathokleos(317-289BC): Of course this looks very much like a Corinthian stater, but the triskeles or three legged device ties it to Syracuse. Coins from the reign of Agathokleos are just about at the pinnacle of lovely design in the whole series, and for the most part they are quite affordable.
  9. What the mailman didn't bring today: Romanian coin from Akrdv Austrian and Portuguese coins from Jose and something really nice from Wes(a new CP'er)
  10. I have had mail sitting in the post office for two weeks before I even got a slip. I have had to go in with the number of the registered mail and let them know that I tracked it to the office but did not get a slip. Idiot Post Office people. At least there are some there I like.
  11. Gees, looks like you could celebrate Twelth night with that haul
  12. I remember spending silver 10 DM coins in the DM era though, never had a problem with them, most people looked at me like I was crazy for spending the Munchen commems. For me as a foreigner, it was a novelty, I had never spent silver coins before. It was unusual to have a silver coin with a value greater than the silver in it.
  13. Count me in too. May want to work out a deal for two nicer type sets of Euro coins from Deutschland for my nippers also. Yes, and I wish I could go in and buy a silver $10 coin at the bank, it has an oz of silver in it, I get it for face value and I really like the design. But not going to put my hand on my bum or it will grow there, remember we are talking USA mint here.
  14. Too late to sign on for the Mozart Commem?
  15. How long after the Phillipines became indepedent in 1946 did the Commonwealth coinage continue to circulate? Did it run all the way up to when the new coinage came out in the early 1970's?
  16. Watch out, then the disease gets raging when you get into ancients, and now I don't like cheapie ancients but only the pricey ones
  17. First there was the Netherlands minors thing, with the 5 ¢ Stuiver, then the Italy thing, then Portugal. My Gawd where does it end ???
  18. Okay, stop posting these 500 Lire things, otherwise I am going to have to take the plunge and buy one.
  19. Bosporus Kingdom(client state of the Roman Empire) King Sauromates I 93-124 AD. This coin was issued in what is now the Crimean Peninsula in modern day Ukraine.
  20. This is an Inn Token, for a halfpenny from ca. 1668 from Jeremiah Masterson of Canterbury Kent. I finally have an octoganol token, now I need a heart shaped one.
  21. Gees, your Mom is lucky to have a daughter like you.
