cvl
Need help with the following please: my 1767 Siberian 2 kopeck piece has strange edge error - instead of КОЛЫВАНСКАЯ it reads КОЛЫВА*АЯ where * stands for some garbled character looking like K overstruck on H. Any ideas? Thank you

alexbq2
The lettering seems a bit odd, could you show us the entire coin?
cvl
http://omnicoin.com/viewcoin/990894 so looks like there was an overlap, Н over К, with C disappearing altogether from the edge. Could it have something to do with the technology edge inscriptions were executed back then?

alexbq2
I don't like it either. The sables have strange faces, and the coin was struck in a ring - too round.

squirrel
closest i have is 1768/7, not lettered edge, but you get the idea.
cvl
Thanks. That puts to rest inscription question. I bought into correct (acc. to Uzdennikov) design separating inscription words. Another jewel in my fakes box.
BKB
sorry brother. We all have a box like that. Anyone who says he does no, is either lying, bought nothing in the last 30 years, or or does not know fake from good. Keep at it.
Steve D'Ippolito
I could have imagined this being a case where perhaps the edge lettering device for the wrong denomination was used and the letters overlap. But if it's that round it's phake as can be; struck in collar. (I had a dealer consult me on something very similar, it looked way too well made.)
