KardGeo
It's been a few months since I've joined the forum (it's been fun!) and about the same time I've started the labourious process of putting some of my collection on Omnicoin. So far I have just managed over one hundred and still going strong. I try and add a few each week as that is all that time permits me. One of the interesting things that I found on Omnicoin was the number of hits that denoted someone clicking on your particular coin. What surprised me however was which coins had the most hits. Being honest I had expected some of the others to be more popular. Something that some of you have experienced too? First most popular (This coin I can understand) 2nd most popular (This coin I don't and I added it there and then on a whim) A surprise take off! (I was very surprised by the number of hits this one started to generate) All in all it's been interesting seeing what people like. I wonder if this could ever translate into catering to market trends?
ScottO
interesting things... i find my fake circulation pieces bring up interest, with older stuff follwing not far behind
Art
I've never really bothered to look at the hits on my coins on omnicoin. I can see why folks would look at the three you indicated. The bi-metal is interesting and a nice design. Shillings, I think, especially in great condition always draw a look.
bill
Interesting observation. My top five in order: http://omnicoin.com/coins/910410.jpg http://omnicoin.com/coins/913377.jpg http://omnicoin.com/coins/909358.jpg http://omnicoin.com/coins/909359.jpg http://omnicoin.com/coins/923042.jpg (I included five because the last three entries vary by only 9 hits among them.) I think most would agree that these five share little in common (with the exception of the last two). I'm not sure what it means, but that's my list. bill
So far, I don't see a pattern emerging as to a type of coin or country. As ScottO notes, its likely other factors.
Ætheling
My top three, I checked this a few months ago and it seems the same three are at the top, ironically I sold all of these some years ago! 1) Charles II Tin Farthing 1684 http://www.omnicoin.com/coin_view.aspx?id=889723 2) Liberty $20 1894 http://www.omnicoin.com/coin_view.aspx?id=896494 3) Swiss Franc 1914 http://www.omnicoin.com/coin_view.aspx?id=896296 I actually really liked that last coin! KardGeo
Its interesting that posting to this forum also skews the data as browsers click on the linked out of interest or curiosity. Thanks for the discussion folks.

KardGeo
Aye, I would agree. She looks like the real thing. I haven't seen any obvious Chinese fakes recently, so it seems like they are concentrating elsewhere.
