Russians have been erecting monuments to practically everything in the past few years, something had to replace all the Lenin's they tore down. Here in Ukraine Lenin still stands in most squares, even in Kyiv. I like to think it is about not forgetting the past, and maybe not replacing it with something worse.

Here in Donets'k, surrounded by crass capitalism and shells of the casinos that were recently shuttered by the government.

Is the statue made of stone or bronze? If bronze, the damage might have been economically, rather than politically, motivated. Or both. :ninja:

What is the scrap metal value of a kilogram of Lenin statue? Is it more, or less, than a kilogram of Stalin? :ninja:

In my town a local genius was electrocuted stealing some heavy copper wire for scap value. Unfortunately for him, it was still connected to the power company. ;)

My guess is that a bronze arm could be either Lenin or Stalin, depending on market demand. ;)

I guess that trumps costing an arm (and a leg). ;)

Think of Darwinian selection as a form of population control ;)

Most likely the wrath of the Almighty. The week before, someone stole the copper gutters off of a church building. ;)

But thats a discussion for a completely different forum. I believe creation vs evolution is little bit off topic here... : ;) : :ninja:;)

Back to the videos, that guy is definitely a coin collector, very eccentric, notice the unshaven face, the disheveled hair, and the millions of kopeks all over the place.
