gxseries
I just heard from friends who came back from Thailand just this month that the polymer 50 bahts don't exist any longer or more probably, not printed any longer and instead reverted back to the paper version. Can anyone confirm that the polymer notes still do circulate or rather, as rumors say, ceased printing? Who knows...
Brett
There is nothing on the Bank of Thailand website that says they reverted back to a paper note
San_Miguel98
thailand stopped issuing polymer notes in 2004. among their reasons for discontinuing them were: unpopularity with the public difficulty in counting them rapidly discoloration over time unable to withstand high temperatures worn notes weren't attractive-looking there are also rumors of the paper note lobby being too strong. out of all of their reasons, the paper lobby sounds like the biggest deciding factor. gxseries
Disappointing... afterall, Thailand made the effort to made two different version of polymer 50 bahts... I guess it's one sad story...
captaincoffee
I live in Thailand and can confirm that the 50 baht notes are back to the "regular" paper. Sorry that I don't usually scan this part of the forum, or I would have answered your question sooner.
