Two Kopeiki
Picked-up two newps - a Newfoundland 50C and a Canada 25C Narrow-over-Wide. What do you folks think? I really like the skin on these, but my Canadian grading is a bit off. Is this a VF20, or lower? ~Roman
ccg
Yes, nice toning! I'm not too familiar with Victorian grading and don't have a grading guide, but I'll say 25c - VF20 50c - F12-15 (great reverse, but unfortunately it's the obverse that counts in Cdn. coin grading and the braid is worn. Two Kopeiki
Thanks, ccg! I think you're right on the 50c. Even though the rest of detail is VF-range, the braid might knock it down to F15.
ccg
No worries. The 25c might grade better than VF20, but I'm not sure so I went with a conservative grade. BTW, are these pictures or scans? They're pretty nice!
Scottishmoney
Whatever the numeric grading, the toning is very lovely and all original. These coins were set back in a collectors cabinet long ago.
inlimbo
Here is a good website to help with a good visual with canadian coin grading. It has the images and ratings from G to ms 67 Great visual

De Orc
They are lovely and I like the difference in Victoria's countenance the 50c is rather grumpy and the 25c happy LOL
